I think that the for a release 2/3 first days are all important as they are the highest!

So there's nothing concrete yet, but I received some exciting news from a very good friend of mine tonight. He is a dancer in the NY, LA, etc. circuit, and has done all sorts of performing and choreographing with hip-hop and tap companies all over the country, and even appeared on an MTV dance special a few spring breaks ago. We went to school together and have known each other for 10 years, so he knows a handful of the J-pop and K-pop artists I'm into. I even dragged him to the Rain concert at MSG a few years ago!

Anyway, I saw him tonight for the first time in a few months, and the subject of work and auditions came up, and he casually said: "Oh, I've been meaning to tell you. Two of my good friends just recently finished shooting a video for BoA's American debut."

Mind you, my friend doesn't listen to J/K-pop, and he barely knows who BoA is. He has probably only ever heard 1 song by her that I forced him to listen to four years ago in high school. There's basically no reason for him to even known that BoA is rumored to be working on a US debut. So it completely caught me off guard when he mentioned her.

I asked him to try to find out the song name and any other details he could, so hopefully we'll find something else out soon. But if this is true (and like I said, he's got nothing to gain from making up a story about an artist he couldn't care less about--shooting a music video is just another day's work for he and his dancer friends), it seems that BoA's American debut preparations are far enough along to have a completed music video. Official announcements can't be all too far off.

Well, there are two options, one it's going to be so good it'll shock us silly, or it'll be EXODUS~Episode II~...

I love BoA, so I'll support her by buying her English stuff, but I still have mixed feelings about her going through with it...

I'm kind of feeling the same way. Half of me wants her to cancel the whole project and go back to spend her career in Korea. The other half of me wants her to come to the states and kick butt. She's got the odds against her, for sure, just like Rain, Seven, Kuraki Mai, and Utada Hikaru all did. Who knows, though--maybe BoA will be the one to break through.

What's more, if things do go well in the states, there's a pretty good chance that she'll leave Japan for the US, the way she left Korea for Japan. Her Japanese releases might become few and far between, and her Korean releases might become even more scarce. US = big bucks, and SM & Avex know that. They've had their foot in the American door for years, waiting for their big chance. They would milk that poor girl dry before letting her leave such a big market, if successful. I would hate for her to simply turn to re-releasing her English material in JP/KO.

On a side note, does anyone else have a bit of the: "I don't want everyone else to know who she is" bug? I know it's crazy and childish, but I kind of like being the only person for miles and miles who can recognize the sound of "Amazing Kiss" anywhere. I kind of don't want a bunch of American noobs Bogarting the BoA...
