GOOFY STYLE
HARDCORE ROCK / www.goofystyle.net

Don't let the name give you the wrong impression: GOOFY STYLE is serious, hard rock. Their songs are distinctly Japanese-sounding with a spiritual flavor.

GOOFY STYLE excels at gradually building a sound and then exploding into an energetic crescendo.

Guitar Vader
ROCK + MORE / www.guitarvader.com

It's hard to classify the musical stylings of Guitar Vader - but overall their unique brand of rock is energetic, fun, and infectious. With Miki on guitar and vocals, Ujuan on bass and vocals, Suzuki on drums, and Steve on keyboards, this group puts on a great, fun show.

Guitar Vader has been featured in Jet Set Radio video games (well known for Super Brothers) and has been featured in the anime BECK.

Miami
ELECTRONIC / www.yesjapan.com/miami/

Miami consists of two girls - Ai and Ai - making quirky electronic music. Their tracks are unique and infectious; just a quick listen will get you hooked to their style!

Poplar
HIP-HOP / www.yesjapan.com/poplar/

Poplar is Japanese Hip-hop, and one of the first such groups to ever perform in America!

Swinging Popsicle
POP ROCK / www.swinging-popsicle.com

Formed in 1995, Swinging Popsicle has had great success in Japan - but it's no surprise. Swinging Popsicle has a smooth, energetic sound that's pleasing to the ear.

Their album Transit has an especially smooth and refreshing feel; it's definitely worth a listen!

UP HOLD
HARDCORE ROCK / www.uphold.info

Formed in 1995, UP HOLD has pounded out several albums, performed with major acts, and have been featured in many projects - they have even been featured in the anime BECK.

Their sound is hard and loud, full of energy.

I bet those people who bought tickets from ebay and other scalpers for hundreds of dollars feel kind of stupid right now.

Kumiko Kato - Singer

Kumiko Kato, a bright rising starlet in the Japanese music scene is delighting fans of J-Pop and Anime across North America with her passion to perform.

Kumiko grew up around music, with a father who played bass in the hit late 70s band “Sentimental City Romance” and a mother who took her to musicals in her hometown of Nagoya. Kumiko also began playing piano at an early age but it was not until she heard Namie Amuro’s stirring performance on television that Kumiko, at age ten, realized the dream she was destined to follow.

Inspired by Amuro as well as Janet Jackson, Kumiko spent her teenage years building a strong foundation in dance from jazz to classical ballet to traditional Japanese dance. At the same time, she balanced her lessons with several part-time jobs, hoping that she could save enough money to visit America someday to pursue her dream. Kumiko achieved her goal when she turned eighteen, and arrived in New York, where she knew she had found the missing piece of her musical puzzle.

“Thinking of You,” Kumiko’s debut single from Sounday Records is produced by Laney Stewart who has worked with such acts Babyface, K-Ci & Jo Jo, Toni Tony Tone and many others. With this release she toured the US performing in Houston, Seattle, Orlando, Chicago, Marshall MN, San Jose, Dallas, Baltimore and Long Beach CA in 2005. Currently, Kumiko is preparing her 1st album which will be produced by a mix of top producers from America and Japan.

Kumiko would like to share a message with you. “I sing from my heart, and I dance from my soul,” she says, “So I know you will love it!”

ZZ - Band

Our second musical guests from Japan, ZZ, will be preforming for us as part of their first North American Tour. This 5 member band performs the third ending song for One Piece and the opening theme song for Samurai Gun. ZZ will be the second part of our main concert following Kumiko Kato’s performance. Both artists will be hosting panels and autograph sessions, and will have copies of their CDs for sale at our convention. More information about the band will be on our website soon.

I'm not a HUGE fan of Hyde but I do enjoy his music. I would have really loved to see him at Slim's! -- That place is so nice and small. I hope I can order tickets for the Fillmore on Sunday morning when they're on sale!!!

Did anyone ever see Puffy at the Fillmore last year??? I loved that show.

D'ESPAIRSRAY TO PERFORM AT ANIMENEXT 2006

One of the biggest and most impressive visual acts in Japan, D'espairsRay, is coming to AnimeNEXT 2006 following the successful release of their newest single Kogoeru Yoru Ni Saita Hana, currently #1 on the Japanese Indie Chart.

Experience the madness as they take you on a dark journey through their unique world of gothic rock. You don't need to understand Japanese or know their music to be able to get into their live performance as D'espairsRay creates a certain energy that is absolutely unstoppable and understandable no matter what language you speak. For many, a D'espairsRay concert is a life-altering experience, for some it's just damn good rock, but either way don't miss their performance at AnimeNEXT 2006. Please visit the the JHouse Rock web site for more details.

MUCC
Tatsuro (vocals)
Miya (guitar)
YUKKE (bass)
SATOchi (drums)
http://www.55-69.com/

Determined to do J-Rock their own way, MUCC has been bringing their amazingly unique sound to fans for over nine years. MUCC is comprised of: Miya on guitar; Satochi on drums; Yukke on bass; and Tatsuro, the group's vocalist. The group's songs have the ability to pull on the heart-strings of listeners and carry elevating messages of hope and warmth.

In 1997, the band was formed when Satochi, Miya, and Tatsuro met in high school. The following year the band recorded and released three demotapes: NO?!, Tsubasa Wo Kudasai, and Aika. Yukke joined the band in 1999, bringing MUCC's perfect harmony to completion. The band made two more demotapes, Shuuka and Aka, and finally released their first CD album, Antique. In 2000, the band released their first CD single, Shoufu/Hai, and a re-release of Antique. The day of release, 6/9, became known as MUCC Day due to the fact that 69 is pronounced “muku” in Japanese. January of 2001 marked the release of MUCC's first full album, Tsuuzetsu. Later that year they also released two singles, Akaban and Aoban, and a mini-album entitled Aishuu. The band started their own original label, Shu, in 2002. Under the new label, they released a new maxi-single, Fu Wo Tataeru Uta. On the ninth of June that year, the band sold their new single, Suisou. And later, on “Reverse MUCC Day” (September 6th), the band released their second album, Houmurauta.

The band continued to release albums: Zekuu in 2003, Kuchiki no Tou in 2004, and Houyoku in 2005. This year, the band released their sixth album, the appropriately titled 6. With the new album's release the band continues to prove that they are full of surprises. During their entire career, MUCC has continued to play live shows with emotional melody lines derived from Japanese exotic pop songs, and as a result, their fan-base grows each year. MUCC is definitely a unique voice; with their songs about humanity they represent a new generation of global artists.
