I liked the PV preview on the official site, Gunjo Biyori's PV was too...normal.
And she looks good in blonde wigs. Edit: And the song is good, listening to PV rip. Last edited by ~K+; 13th October 2005 at 01:38 PM. |

I've got an open spot on my January 7th order, and I'm thinking of getting Ringo no Uta. I've listened to 'Ringo no Uta' and I can't stop listening to 'La salle de bain'!
So how's the 3rd track and what are the DVD contents? The Ringo no Uta PV is her in different PV costumes, and what's the mole unplugged thing? Thanks anyone who can offer any info. I'm pretty sure I'll get this unless something else gets released, but I'll probably still get this. ![]() I might add Tokyo Jihen's new single too, since I really liked it after watching the PV. ![]() Also, in relation to SR/TJ, I drew a picture of Shiina Ringo from Tokyo Jihen's Sonan PV during US History, but I lost it!!

The 3rd track, 'Ringo Catalogue' is noisy with alot of sounds. Took me a while to get used to, but sxesven might give you a much better description of it.
The DVD consists of two PVs, the original 'Ringo no uta' PV you see on TV. And the unplugged mole version, which is just her standing there singing in front of a plain background. But she's dressed in all her old costumes, and they keep changing every few lines. It switches from head shots to half body shots. They show an apple shaped candle in the music break of the song. Hmm...I swear I made more screenshots years ago, but I can't find them at the moment. Could only dig these up. ![]() ![]()

Didn't you have a sig set out of them? I liked that.
I rather liked Ringo Catalogue. Great single buy.

Ringo No Uta was an excellent single, good buy. Ringo Catalogue sounds a bit noisy indeed. It's in fact a one-track compilation of a bunch of older Ringo tracks (some almost unrecognizably deformed) with some new stuff, so it's a lot of fun to hear all these elements from good old Ringo songs plunged together. The videos are pretty cool as well.

*Gasps* 'La salle de bain' has a PV?!
Thanks to that one SR/TJ fansite with screencaps, I've decided to add this to my January order. It looks so cool, and apparently the CMs are really nice and there's a funny bonus clip. $35 seems steep, but 'meisai' and 'La salle de bain' are reason enough to buy it. What are everyone's views on Shiina Ringo's styles? Some prefer her older, rock stuff, but I really like everything starting at "creepy blue eyes" single, when she got more experimental. But I also like 'Shouso Strip' a lot too... Edit:I was talking about her 3rd PV collection if anyone was confused...

I personally like every Ringo period, from the relatively simple alternative rock on Muzai Moratorium through the more complex alternative rock on Shouso Strip all the way to the completely schizophrenic avant-garde Karuki Zamen Kuri No Hana.
The 'creepy blue eyes', I take it that's Mayonaka Wa Junketsu? I must say I don't think that's a very good example of Ringo-chan's musical evolution that eventually resulted in Karuki Zamen Kuri No Hana. It's excellent, but quite standard, only different from earlier material because of the collaboration with Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra. The alternate version of Sid To Hakuchuumu showed once more Ringo's love for old big band and jazz, but it didn't really prepare anyone for Karuki Zamen Kuri No Hana, I think. Aisako No Chousoku was flat-out brilliant by the way, one of my favorite b-sides, but once again, quite standard in comparison to later work. If I had to choose, I'd go with her KZK-period. Ringo really outdid herself then. KZK is a masterpiece (in my top 100 of all time it ranks at #4) that will never cease to amaze its listeners. Of course, I couldn't live without her older albums either, and I must add that I think that some of Ringo's b-sides are some of her best songs/covers (Aisako No Chousoku, Tokiga Boosoosuru, Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You). So eh, hard to choose, haha. Meisai isn't on the Ringo No Uta single by the way, but on Kuki (STEM) ~daimyo asobi hen~, and on KZK of course. I'm not sure if you knew that, your post confused me there, haha.

I never understood how 'Ringo Catalogue' was a compilation of all of Ringo's old hits. I could never pick any out of it. O_O Unless it's a purely lyrical thing. None of the songs on 'Ringo no uta' being featured on her albums is another reason to buy. And the jewel case (if you buy the Japan version) isn't a regular jewel case, it seems to be made of thicker material. The lyrics to 'La salle de bain' leaves me scratching my head though. ![]() I'd love to buy her 3rd PV collection just for 'Mayonaka wa junketsu', but the price is way too steep for a DVD with 5 clips IMO. But I really agree with sven on the B-sides, she makes some of the best B-sides I've ever heard, and excellent cover versions. The fact that pretty much every one of her singles have at least 2 B-sides (and excellent ones) makes all of her singles good buys. |

The DVD has (For $35 on Yesasia):
1.Yattsuke Shigoto* 2.Mayonaka wa junketsu* 3.Meisai 4.STEM* 5.Ichijiku no Hana* 6.La salle de bain 7.Really spiffy CMs 8.Some puppet show thing... *Songs I won't already have on my album and single. I would die of happiness if I got the first press edition, but it'll probably be way out of stock after 2 years and 5 months (January order)....*looks for the Yahoo auction pics*

Eh? I didn't know it had all that. o_O
But yeah, the live version of 'yattsuke shigoto' is awesome, as is the single version of 'kuki~STEM~Daimyou asobi hen', and 'Mayonaka wa junketsu'. Those 3 are some of my favourite Ringo songs. I know you prefer not to download stuff, but if you want to hear 'Ichijiku no Hana' in CD quality, you might want to download that one song, because it's only included with her Baishou Ecstasy DVD as a bonus single disc. And yeah, it would be really spiffy if it had the 'KZK' album CMs. Which is more or less a puppet show come to think of it... 'Mayonaka wa junketsu' is one of my favourite PVs too, full animated. |

But yeah, Kev knows I'm an impulsive buyer so it'll be bought when I randomly hear a Ringo song when I've got money ._.

Once again, I'm all over the jazz cover they did on this single. Sounds great, its all transformed. And I love that 2nd b-side, very much so. \

Oh most of the Tokyo jihen songs weren't really that striking to me other than Sounan. I'm glad Shuraba is actually a very great song. The arrangements are very rich actually, it's almost a salad of different genres of music mixed together and that mix actually came out with a very good result. The song rather leaves me puzzled as at first listen I was thinking it would be a certain kind of genre of music and it takes different pathways. And the best thing is, it actually doesn't sound random or chaotic, flowing really nicely. Very interesting.

I love "rakujitsu" - it's so jazzy. I wonder if Ringo realises that she's a pretty good jazz writer. =)
"shuraba" is another excellent single from them, I really need to get down to buying Ringo's and Jihen's singles one of these days. =X |

I'm amused, Shuraba and Shoso Strip came to the house on the same day <3
I'm still amazed at how pretty the cover is for Shuraba and I can't wait to watch the MS live for the song. Ringo's so pretty on the CD for Shoso ^_^
