Tomomi was produced by Komuro Tetsuya at the beginning of her career and during Komuro's intense popularity of the mid 1990's. While her debut single sold mediocrely for the times, her song "I'm proud" gave her major success selling over 1 million copies, skyrocketing her to the top. While her debut album went on to sell over 2 million copies. She has the 3rd best selling debut album in the history of Japanese music.

After leaving Komuro, she had various scandals that have affected her career. A few years ago she was dropped by her record agency for failing to show up to appointments and was found to have been using drugs.

However, since appearing on FNS Kayousai in December, her debut with Universal Music Japan will finally be released!
