Overseas version

I was wondering if the Overseas versions on Yesasia are Taiwan versions or Hong Kong versions??
A friend of mine said that Hong Kong versions are better than Taiwan versions but I've never bought overseas versions before so I don't know if there's a difference. He showed me his Hong Kong version of A Clips Box and practically everything is the same as the Japanese version except there're some random extra papers and a Chinese translation of all the songs in a separate booklet. I'm convinced from the quality that there's no need to buy pretty pony~pretty pony~pretty pony~ versions ever again but I'm not sure if the Overseas versions on offer on yesasia are on the same level as what he's got. So...any ideas?

Yesasia carries versions by either avex asia or avex taiwan.
It just depends on which artist's release you're getting.
For example, day after tomorrow. Every overseas version of dat's releases are manufactured by avex taiwan.

Anyway, the only differences I can think of of avex asia/taiwan's releases are:
- spine part of OBI (avex asia copies that of the japan version, avex taiwan uses the white+light blue thing)
- translation sheets might look different for avex taiwan and avex asia versions.

theres no much different in the quality.. i think its just the same (i have taiwan version n asia version)...

another difference between avex hong kong and avex taiwan is that, avex taiwan translates the song titles into chinese as well, but avex hong kong do not. so if you see, on the obi, the song title is in chinese, then you know it is from avex taiwan. if the title is in english, then it is from avex hong kong.

Yes, Avex HK ones are better than Avex TW ones.

Avex HK ones are closer in appearance to the Japan version, having retailing all song titles in it's original format and keeping the OBI the same. (Except the retail price is removed and the back cover would say something like 'Prohibited for sale in Japan')

Avex TW changes all sorts of things, worst of all, song titles as extepan said.

But anyway, to answer your question. It depends. Check what is listed as 'Publisher' under the item, it might say if it's Avex TW or just Avex Trax. On most cases yesasia carries Avex HK items. HK doesn't manufacter all products, so sometimes when there isn't a HK OS available, it'll be a Taiwanese OS product listed. (eg. Mika Nakashima's OS ver singles are only manufactured by SONY TW)

So...say in the lyrics booklet of MY STORY...the songs will have their Chinese title beside their English title?? Or are the Chinese stuff only outside of the cd? (as in only on some sort of removable obi but not present anywhere on the inside of the cd case)

Nope. The kana in the booklet is in full japanese. That's why they include a separate sheet with the chinese translations.

Apparently, it doesn't include said sheet. From the scans rainbowseason provided on this thread, it's already been corrected.

Oh, and OT as well... if anyone asks, it's not popcorn (refer to link as well, you'll know what part I'm talking about). Those're flower petals.

one more little difference. avex hong kong has 'avex trax' on the obi, but avex taiwan has the chinese name of avex trax on it o_O

What is Avex Trax called in Chinese? o__O" Haven't brought a Taiwanese OS for awhile, the old ones still had Avex Trax on it.

And instead of popcorn, I thought they looked like chips in the small pic posted earlier...

It was on one of the threads where there were smaller scans of the booklet.
I remember a few people mentioning popcorn. And I was like "What? That doesn't even look like popcorn. It's too flat."

I think I like avex taiwan better cos they always make the chinese lyrics the same pattern as the pretty pony~pretty pony~pretty pony~ version but the hongkong version they only used a small piece of white paper for the lyrics.

Only the past singles are in blue and black cos that time the pretty pony~pretty pony~pretty pony~ singles are in black and white...
Taiwan versions are now with color too...

And sometimes taiwan version actually have xtra things
like this auction for ayu-mi-x III they actually have and OBI which pretty pony~pretty pony~pretty pony~ and HK version dont have
and they have a stamp on the paper saying ayu's 3rd anniversary in avex.

All I can say is avex taiwan is actually putting alot more effort in promoting ayu than avex hongkong...

Damn straight. And Kinex, they still come in blue and white, just take a look at the MY STORY scans.

I don't like all those extras the original doesn't have though, sometimes they add all this unnecessary text. Avex isn't the only label that does it too, SONY TW also have ugly OBIs.
