Dutch music [including Downloads]

Since most of us are already pretty familiar with 'different' music (we all listen to Ayu, but not many of us actually DO come from Japan) so I thought you might be interested in Dutch music as well! LOL or maybe not, of course, but Holland is, for example, very famous for its trance artists. But we have more! Here is some stuff...

GOTHIC MUSIC

I already read that some of you like gothic music. Holland has quite a few gothic bands, the most famous being Within Temptation (MP3 samples on this page). But there's more! For example; we have Autumn (MP3 samples not available, but homepage is here) and After Forever is pretty famous too (MP3 samples: Follow in the cry, Leaden Legacy, Yield To Temptation).

DEATHMETAL

On the deathmetal field there are two major players: one being God Dethroned (MP3 samples here), the other being Severe Torture (MP3 samples not available).

PROGROCK

Three bands I'm naming here: Mostly Autumn (MP3 samples not available, but website is here), Triangle (MP3 samples: Chasing The Shadows, The Center Shines, Nature's Window) and For Absent Friends (MP3 sample: The One).

INDIEROCK

Holland has quite an extensive indierockscene, mostly thanks to Excelsior Recordings. Some good ones: Face Tomorrow [emocore] (MP3 samples: Worth The Wait, Live The Dream), Alamo Race Track (MP3 samples: not available but here is some RealAudio available, as well as some music by other Excelsior artists), Incense (MP3 samples: Static, 20/20), Mono (MP3 samples: Everything Is Everywhere, Freight Trains).

TRANCE

Holland is pretty famous for its trance music. The main contributors: Dj Tiësto (MP3 samples: not available, but check out the website for some RealAudio), Ferry Corsten (MP3 samples: not available, but check out the website for some RealAudio) and Armin Van Buuren (MP3 samples: A State Of Trance radio compilation).

PUNK

We gotta lotta punk too. The Apers are the most famous punkband here (MP3 samples: Better Off, but check out here). Another great band is Wiseguy (MP3 samples: Pull The Cup, I Call It The Night, The Snitch), and quite famous is Undeclinable (MP3 samples: check out the website).

WEIRD MUSIC

The most famous weird music from Holland is definitely Kapotte Muziek, which means as much as Broken Music (mp3 samples: not available, but, just for fun, check out discography).

HIPHOP

And we have hiphop, too. For instance: E-Life (MP3 samples: not available, but check out website because it has plenty soundsamples), and, legendary, the Osdorp Posse (MP3 samples: many MP3s here). A recent hit is Raymzter (MP3 samples: not available), another cool hiphopcrew is Opgezwolle! (MP3 samples: not available).

So much for now, it's taken me quite some time to write this all! I didn't really explain much but I can always do that later. I hope you had fun reading this and I hope that you like what you heard

I've heard of all the artists listed for trance ^^ ! I tune in to Armin's A State of Trance every week, and a few weeks ago when Lange was there, he was speaking to him in what sounded like a British accent ! I suppose he could speak perfect english all along (all I've heard are bits of him saying song titles and such), so when it comes to trance, Holland gets my vote for making some of the bext mixers ever !

Just backing up what others have said. The Netherlands have had such a massive influence on the trance scene, thanks to the aforementioned Armin, Ferry, De Moor, and Tiësto.

Guys like Marco V, Rank 1, Tom Holkenborg (JXL), Misja Helsloot, and Sander Kleinenberg are also from the area.

Correctamundo

Jose, when Dutch ppl don't speak with Dutch accents they have an Oxford-English accent most of time, cuz they assume that's the right way of speaking English ^_^

BTW, the full name of the 'band' JXL is Junkie XL... but when the 'A Little Less Conversation' remix was released, Elvis' family commanded Tom to shorten it to JXL, because it sounded pretty awkward (Elvis... junkie... you know).

Yeah, I remember hearing about that.

One more from the dutch trance scene that deserves mention is Carlo Resoort. Mustn't forget the man behind 4 Strings and Madelyne. "Take Me Away (Into The Night)" will always be his top tune in my book.

Indeed I do know of it. I remember how Rank 1 did the "Such Is Life" theme for it a while back. And just this year, White was where Armin debuted his remix of "As The Rush Comes" (just some small factoids).
