I was thinking about how many money has Ayu been earning during the last decade.... I mean, it must have been A LOT, but i have no idea really... Do you guys know? Or maybe her net worth?

Well, I think she has been earning almost 5 billion yen.
I watched a TV news and in its gossip section, they reported how much money the stars have earned. They estimated that Ayu has earned more than 4.6 billion yen until 2005 or 2006.
(Sorry, I don't remember correctly )

I remember reading somewhere that Ayu is the or one of the person that pays the more taxes in Japan. Which would mean she's one of the person that earns the most in Japan also :3 I guess that can give you an idea? xD

but that was then, I don't know what she's earning now as of this year...probably by the end of this year we will have an estimate.

Don't confuse total earnings with how much Ayu actually gets in hand.

I would not make that assumption...

None of us knows what kind of behind the scenes stuff goes on. Maybe her contract changed through the years. Maybe she made less during her peak because she had to pay for more of an entourage.
Income isn't just based on how much you work, it's based on a number of factors.

In 2004, it is estimated that Ayu's income was all of $3.5 million USD.
So, uh, yeah, she's not an uber-millionaire like people assume. I think it's important to point out that there are basic contract differences between Japan and, for example, America.
I think perhaps it's safe to safe Utada Hikaru is worth more than Ayu overall because Hikki I think owns her copyrights and Ayu does not. They are managed completely differently. Will post more numbers for Ayu if I find them.

[edit] An article here says Ayu earned approx. $4 million USD in 2007. Not sure where the number came from since Japan stopped revealing the taxpayers list a few years back.
