I seriously doubt Ayu would do the show. Not to ruin anyone's dream or anything, but it's just that I think she's not interested in US promotion.

and uh, didn't ayu HERSELF say, she'll go anywhere in the world if people are willing to listen?

I just edited it because I didn't realize I left an extra word in there, so are you going to try and start a fight with me, too? Just add me to the list. Anyhow. As far as Ayu doing any promotion in the US, it just doesn't seem like she's interested. There's only been talk about it around the Secret era, and nothing since then.
I'm not saying I don't WANT her to at least do a concert here, but I just doubt it will happen.

This is what i put in the "Story" thing, why Ellen would love her ..

Quote:
Ayumi Hamasaki is the queen of Asian Pop music -- The epitome of a true musical deity, true musical royalty. She's sold 50,000,000 units in her home country alone, and that doesn't include sales in other nations, where she frequently tops the charts as well. She's nearing 50 #1 hits in her home nation, and the reason is that she's a truly talented musician. Ellen would love her, she's fun and bubbly and has even been studying English for years now. Her music is quite introspective, focusing on the darker sides of life and love. Her music has spanned nearly every genre, from 80s themed disco-pop, to soul, to orchestra balladry, to electronic music and techno, and then to the hardest rock you've ever heard from a pop diva. Truly, she is the living definition of variety and talent.

uhhh I think it would be terrible actually I doubt Ayu would do it and I don't think she needs to be made a fool of... Gosh even Hikki would not fit in either... let's leave it to American artists to go on shows like that...
sorry just my opinion...

yeah i agree, Ellen tries to make fun of her guests, and it would be awkward for Ayu...

I'd rather Ayu on Oprah!

^^I agree with you about not being able to envision Hikki (let alone Ayu) on Ellen. I mean Hikki might at least understand Ellen's sense of humor-- but I don't think Ayu would.

I also think it would be degrading for Ayu (or anyone as famous as her in a foreign country) to go on a show like Ellen... I don't want to say they'd make it seem like no one knows Ayu, but they'd make it seem like she's less significant than she really is, I think. That's what American programs/interviewers do with Hikki anyway. They make her seem a lot less noteworthy than she really is-- "She's sold xx number of albums-- but let's compare her to a crappy American act! "

It's okay to treat Hikki like that though, in my opinion since in the US she's actually a "separate" artist and starting a new slate. It would not be okay if she was being promoted as Utada Hikaru. xD

For those who are saying that Ayu would not be able to handle an interview with ellen-I dont think that Ellen will actually interview this artist that we tell her about...I think it something like a small 5 minute segment were she gives a small bio of who Ayu is some samples of her songs and thats it....and if it is truly that way it would be kind of cool to hear her talk about Ayu even if its just for a minute wouldn't it?....Also as an artist Ayu has probably been trained and prepare to handle all types of interviwers...No matter how awkard she feels inside she could probably act cool and get trought the show without freaking out too much...well I think....no need to trow dead glares at me okay?...^_^

The Dragonball movie was an international joke... It singlehandedly ruined my favorite anime of all time. If Ayu got on singing Rule, I'd much rather them talk about how good the music is rather than some crap movie it was linked to.

I e-mailed as well. Ellen is legendary and is always helping people and she tends to love all kinds of music. I would to see Ayumi on the Ellen show someday. Ayumi is legendary, Ellen is legendary putting two legends in one room. That would be INSANEEEEEE!

Anyway I put Surreal that song has touched me the most.

Go Ayuuuuuuumi!

I hope the next time Ayumi is in the US it's for the Ellen show.

And don't be such downers, you never know, If Ayumi truly is the person I think she is she will go anywhere to see a fan small or big. It may take her time to get there, but if she's like the old Ayumi she wants to know of all her fans.

Now that I think of it, you're right, Americans are a cruel bunch, I know that from experience. They probably wouldn't accept Ayumi's great lyrics. ! I wish that country wasn't soo UGH!!!! Why are they so screwed up?

I personally think if she was chosen to do the Ellen show, assuming they would actually HAVE her on the show and not just do a little 5 minute spot on her, she would have to sing in English, or at least attempt to because a lot of people in America don't take the time to listen to anything that isn't.

I think the audience of Ellen's show would enjoy Ayumi and her songs. There of course will be people outside of that that make fun of her, but from what I've seen Ellen's audience, at home and in studio are just as nice as she is. Ayu is bubbly, fun and energetic, just like Ellen. I think they'd get along great and have alot of fun together.

Whether they have her come on the show or just have a 5 minute spot on her, I'd be happy with either. Her coming on the show doesn't mean that she'd HAVE to sing though. I'm sure they could work something out depending on what Ayu wanted.
