If she does a concert, it'll be worth so much more.

Also I have more respect for someone who donates little, but is helping out at the scene as opposed to someone sitting comfortably in some huge building, pouring money out of their pockets. I'm not saying either of them are, but I'm just giving those as examples.

I'd like to see the folks on tv who said it, how much they've donated, if we're going to all be foolish.

That ranking is just for that site, I think. There are other outlets that are not being ranked. I wonder why Ayu chose that place to donate of all the places to donate?

I think it does not make sense at all to even compare how much each artist donated...

Silly news.

They got it wrong.

Just wanting to cause a fuss around Ayu.

As far as AKB donating they probably mentioned it so fans can see and go well if they can do that so can I. Plus if they didn't people might think they didn't donate enough, or just don't care. Yet they announce it and people are upset too.

In the end it doesn't matter who donated more or less It's good they (Ayu, AKB and whoever else) donated. All that matters is everyone does everything they can whether it be, tweeting, donating, or just sending Japan encouraging messages.

This is ridicilous. One of the towns in Southern Serbia donated $10 000 to the Red Cross of Japan, here that's a lot of money, compared to those 7 000 000 yen it prolly doesn't seem that much, but it will still help someone. Imagine how will less known people who don't have such "deep" pockets feel when they want to donate only a couple of hundreds or thousands of dollars after seeing people being judged this way. Any help should be more than welcome and everyone should donate as much as they can or think it's appropriate, as this indeed isn't a race.

And until there are actual facts and numbers on the donations everything's mare speculation. I think Ayu was right not to announce the exact numbers and the Korean guy announcing it only means that he wants more publicity.

We had such a nice time. We started dating in t2m PV, took it slow you know, let our love grow. Then it got really serious in 2008. Then after AT2009 we moved in together. It was lovely. Then on AT2010 he asked me to marry him. He was such a sweet. And Ayu gave us our blessings. She was also such a sweet. Now me and Maro are such a sweets together. Aaaw, how time flies.

Baffles me how a crisis like this can be happening, and there's still time and space to talk about how much people are donating and comparing?
Hmmph.

I think in crisis situations, people feel a lot of anger and fear and it can be hard to direct those feelings in the right direction. I think TV stations should try and make sure that they're staying professional, but I can understand (not condone, but understand) why people in a desperate, uncertain situation would start to lash out at those that they feel are in a position to help them.

i don't think anyway it's right to judge the generosity of charity donations.
A donation is a donation.

precisely. I duno what the Japanese are thinking. They should be worrying about more earthquakes, radiation exposure and their future lives instead of complaining that ayu donated a small sum of money -_-

It's unfair to judge someone like that, even if they have a lot of money. There are more rich people than just Ayu and the majority of them probably wont even donate. It was good of her to contribute.
I feel like im just repeating what has already been said xD but just wanted to throw my 2cents in.

Donating +1mil USD is a lot, even for someone really rich like Ayu... Being rich doesn't mean she produces money from her ass or that she has an infinite quantity of it...

SERIOUSLY, HAVE ANYONE THOUGHT OF THIS??:

Even if you earned so much money in a year, it doesn't mean you spend less money and save a lot of money.

Please take a look at Ayu's livestyle, it's obvious she spends a lot, not only for herself and also for her lovely pets and perhaps aother things that we are not aware of. True, her pay might not be constant monthly, but that doesn't mean she doesn't spend any money at all.. Come on, so what if people look rich, earn loads of money and all that, it might be an empty shell inside.. so what's the upset about?? and it is also common that most japanese don't save money...

Besides, does donating more money be only 100% beneficial to the victims? i don't think so, it is already so inaccessible to travel over to where the victims are, let alone provding them with the basic needs. So what, when you have loads of necessity and food but you are unable to distribute to the victims asap??
