YUI isn't really more popular than Ayu. Still this is a best of release so it'll sell better than a wannabe mini album.

they are pretty much neck and neck in terms of sales.

It IS kinda sad to see her debut at #12 on the global track charts though. She used to OWN that. Several consecutive #1 around 2005-2010.

As long as she's in the top5/top10 in Japan I'm happy. But a #12 debut, even if it is the worldwide chart, just looks depressing.

YUI writes and composes her songs, she plays guitar, she is shy and pretty IMO.

Anyway, this isn't a YUI thread, XD. Even if YUI's sales are dropping a bit, isn't enough for Ayu.

^ you're right... this isnt a YUI thread but we are talking about again going up against a YUI greatest hits.

YUI is getting the number 1 because its a greatest hits and like someone else said she is taking a break.. so that might help sales for her...

If ayumi is performing on shows this also might help sales... given what the last album did and going up against that best of, it could be a nice little race we got on our hands.

yeah..this! Ayu is probably the only artist I listen to where fans pay attention to charts/sales...Ayu is a legend..she doesn't need to proof herself now

YUI will not be the one getting the #1 anyway. EXILE is releasing a BEST album and they will mop the floor with YUI with ease.

As far as my experience with YUI's music goes, I'd dare call it american pop-rock in japanese disguise. I tried listening to her music but in the end I came to the conclusion that it's not J-Pop. I cannot see any japanese influences in her works so why would a J-Pop listener seek for japanese pop elements in her songs whatsoever? Furthermore we already have a genuine american Kelly Clarkson xD
