The Japanese quintet also had their fair share of boisterous devotees in the audience, some of whom even came armed with banners. “I’m very happy to be in Singapore because I’ve always longed to sing here,” gushed lead singer KOKI, a former member of popular boy band KAT-TUN. After communicating in limited English at first, he switched to his native Japanese, but some audience members were still able to understand and respond to his dialogue. At the end of their stage, a couple of super lucky fans managed to score the shirt off KOKI’s back and an autographed towel.

Nippon TV’s year end music show Best Artist 2015 is currently airing in Japan. KAT-TUN is one of the acts performing at tonight’s show.

Before their performance of “Dead or Alive”, member Taguchi Junnosuke make a shocking announcement: he will be leaving the group as well as Johnny & Associates this coming spring. This is especially surprising given that March 22 marks the 10th anniversary of KAT-TUN’s debut.

With Taguchi’s departure, KAT-TUN will have lost half of its members, following the departures of Akanishi Jin in 2010 and Tanaka Koki in 2013. Johnny & Associates made an announcement on their site about the news. KAT-TUN will not be disbanding, but they are currently in talks about their future as a group.

Taguchi Junnosuke has decided to leave KAT-TUN and Johnny's & Associates.

Taguchi made the surprise announcement during NTV's "Best Artist 2015" year-end program. Before KAT-TUN performed "Dead or Alive", the idol talk the audience of his decision.

The idol will be leaving KAT-TUN and Johnny's & Associates next spring. An exact date for his departure is currently not known.

Taguchi will be turning 30 years old next year. He explained that his decision to leave KAT-TUN came from a desire to make progress on his personal life now that he's becoming older.

"I've decided to walk a different path from KAT-TUN, but I will use all my efforts until the last day of me being a KAT-TUN member," Taguchi said.

After making his announcement, Johnny's & Associates released a statement regarding KAT-TUN's future. There are no plans to disband the group, but its future has not been decided yet.

Group member Kamenashi Kazuya says that he wants to cherish the remaining time he has with Taguchi and KAT-TUN as a 4-member group. Ueda Tatsuya said that he tried to convince Taguchi to remain with KAT-TUN and will work hard to continue bringing their fans strong work and performances.

Taguchi is the 3rd member to leave KAT-TUN. In 2010, Akanishi Jin left the group, followed by Tanaka Koki in 2013.

Tokyohive - [BREAKING] KAT-TUN's Taguchi Junnosuke to leave the group & Johnny's

On November 24, KAT-TUN member Taguchi Junnosuke announced that he will be leaving the group and Johnny & Associates, Inc. next spring.

He made the announcement at the group's live performance for NTV's special music programme "Best Artist 2015."

Right before KAT-TUN's performance, Taguchi stated, "I'm sorry for this sudden announcement, but I have an announcement to make. I, Taguchi Junnosuke, will be leaving KAT-TUN next spring, and also from Johnny & Associates."

While big screams were breaking out in the audience, he continued, "As I'm almost 30 years old, I considered the way of my life in the future, and I have chosen my way, though I'm really sorry for the members. To you fans who have been supporting me until now, and all the people concerned, I am very grateful. Thank you very much."

Then, fellow member Kamenashi Kazuya took the microphone, and said, "First of all, we are really sorry for this sudden announcement. Also, as this is not the first time for a thing like this to happen to our group, I feel really terrible to people involved and you fans for causing much trouble and worry. We are sorry."

Kamenashi also apologised to the NTV, the programme's staff, and other artists who appeared on the programme, as well as the viewers.

On the same day, Johnny & Associates, Inc. also released a comment on their official site, "We have agreed that our company and KAT-TUN member Taguchi Junnosuke would not renew his contract. Making this announcement at this timing which is about to be the group's 10th anniversary year, we apologise heartily to the fans who are supporting. We also want to apologise to people involved for all the troubles we have caused."

Regarding the timing for Taguchi's withdrawal, the statement wrote, "We will decide when would be the right timing on the programme he makes a regular appearance, to have the least impact."

They also mentioned KAT-TUN's future activities, "We are not planning to disband the group, but we will make another announcement at a later date regarding their future activities after discussing the best course of action for the rest of the members."

KAT-TUN was formed as a 6-member group, and made their major debut back in 2006. They have had 2 members withdraw in the past; Akanishi Jin (in July 2010) and Tanaka Koki (in September 2013).

I'm shocked... KAT-TUN is my favourite group and they are going down and down. Taguchi is really important for me. I could accept Jin. Koki was really difficult but now... I'm really sad but well, I respect his decision. If KAT-TUN is going to disband at least I hope all members still doing solo activities. I'll follow them forever and Kame is my ichiban and he will have success not matter what I think (Sounds a little egoistic... but I only want the best for them).

I'm extremely shocked as well especially since I've been their fan for so long . I can't imagine others who have been supporting them since 2001 until now

Unlike Akanishi & Tanaka , I think Taguchi is somewhat scandal free but I think he wants to leave to get married ? I read somewhere that he has been with his girlfriend for a really long time so perhaps that contributes to this ?

If the other 3 plans to go solo , I will still support them . Still , other Johnnys who're married still stay on in the group , like TOKIO & SMAP

Various news sites have already wrote about it & I think they also mentioned Taguchi will also leave Johnnys & Associates , just like Tanaka did

They also state that KAT-TUN will not disband & seems that Ueda tried to persuade Taguchi many times not to leave but alas ;_;

The reason behind Taguchi Junnosuke's decision to leave KAT-TUN and Johnny's & Associates next spring has become a hot topic for the media and the public.

According to various media outlet is Japan, it is believed that Taguchi was partly motivated to leave the group and company in order to start dating unrestricted. The idol has reportedly been dating actress Komine Rena for the past 8 years, and with Taguchi turning 30 next year, he wants to be able to develop their relationship in ways he can't as a member of KAT-TUN.

Industry insiders say that Taguchi does not have immediate plans to get married. However, because these matters can have a negative affect on the group, Taguchi's decision to leave is thought to be have been done in order to protect KAT-TUN's image.

Earlier this year, Arashi's Ohno Satoshi was discovered to be in a relationship with an actress. There was a huge backlash against this, and he eventually publicly apologised, denied the relationship, and promised never to see the woman again. A similar backlash would likely occur to any member of KAT-TUN that began dating openly.

I think this should be true as Taguchi is generally scandal free unlike Akanishi and/or Tanaka & if it's not woman , then it's $ matters that he decides to leave

Then again , TOKIO , SMAP & V6 each have members that're married but still stay on and not leave the company altogether

It's a double edge sword for Johnnys . On 1 hand they can't date openly but some along the way will have the desire to settle down but what ideal age it will be , it's a never ending debate

As already reported, KAT-TUN member Taguchi Junnoske announced that he is leaving KAT-TUN and Johnny & Associates next spring, a surprising announcement that made it to the top of worldwide trending topics and gave NTV’s Best Artist its peak rating of 19.6%.

Moments after Taguchi’s announcement, statements from J&A and the members were posted on Johnnys Web. An official English version was recently updated, as can be seen below.

We apologise for the sudden announcement. Johnny & Associates and KAT-TUN member Taguchi Junnosuke have come to an agreement not to proceed with a contract renewal.

I am so sorry and full of regret. It has been 2 years since Tanaka Koki left.

Next year will be our 10th anniversary, and there is a need for us to stay closely united as a group. But in the meantime, different feelings started to develop little by little among the members, and we talked about our inability to share the same feelings in proceeding onward.

KAT-TUN has been active as a four-person group for 2 years, establishing itself as a new group, thanks to your support. However, there was a huge gap between how we perceived entertainment business, and despite my efforts, I just could not fill that gap.

With the group’s 10th anniversary of debut approaching, we wanted to deliver something positive to the people who have been continuously supporting us. We are truly sorry that a member’s withdrawal has been decided against that hope.
