I can't blame the industry's changes for the way things are because there are TONS of visual artists without Ayu's resources who are able to put out great work and PVs without compromising their image or vision.

Most of the Colours PV were directed by Ayu herself and her team... We can't really expect much from people trying a new ability for the first time, but this kind of experience changes her perspective and level of understanding while talking to directors in the future. So far the post Colours pvs were pretty much interesting, and this little experience probably has to do with it.

edit: I also find the PVs from Colours to be pretty bad in general too... I just think it's not a testment of anything other than her trying to take more creative control over her work.

I think Sweet Scar would make simple and fantastic performance. Imagine her doing that just like in PV. I keep coming back to the song.

I'm still surprised that Sweet scar got so much love. Never liked it, it felt second hand, like a mixture of several songs she already had in her discography.

Lol it pretty much was secondhand cause it was a leftover she declined and decided against at one point but them pulled out to repurpose when she became desperate. But I grew to accept it for what it is.

That's like the entire love again album lol.

Love again is probably her worse album. Everything about it was rehash from covers to songs. But one thing about it is her wake me up performance with the chains gave me respect for that song.

I am fairly certain all the DAI tracks we got after 2006 were leftovers from prior sessions but I don't think she 'declined' them at any point, just never used them until she needed songs. Dai Nagao pretty much disappeared from J-Pop in the mid 00s. Sweet scar is a very haunting Ayu track IMO. Quite different from anything else she's ever done.

I love Sweet Scar! I prefer her softer ballads to the grand sweeping ones sometimes because her voice really gets to shine!

I think there were a lot of great songs on LOVE again. The problem is they don't really work well together as an album.

For me, Love Again is her worst album based on the fact that I only ever listen to two songs off the whole album (Wake Up and Song 4 U). I guess occassionally I'll do You and Me and Sakura. But overall there is no Ayu album that even comes close to that amount of tracks that I skip. I thought Colors was a huge improvement after.

I didn't realize this album got so much love here.

Yeah Sweet scar is great, so is Ivy. If she wouldn't have released LOVE again and the other two as singles it would have been such a great release.

How could I have forgotten?! It's such a nice and simple song. That and Shape of Love would be the direction I'd like Ayu to go.

Now that we're talking LOVE, Song 4 U and Missing are really good songs too. Even Again has good songs, it's just that LOVE again felt like a cheap trick to resell fans two minis of songs and the album tracks weren't TOO amazing-save for Petal.
