I don't like how she tried to erase herself, it feels weird to listen to her sometimes now..

So, either Okinawa has a legit weird way of expressing things or GACKT just threw a shade on Namie in a recent english interview.........lol

This whole interview is legendary levels of trolling, especially that Namie mention. I miss Namie and it’s good to hear her name even if they’re just joking around (it was a hilarious joke too!)

Yeah that whole thing is a trollfest as per usual with him, it's just more hilarious in english lol
But, like, did he REALLY need to go after Namie?? It did make me laugh, though, a legit "NO YOU DID NOT JUST SAY THAT" moment...

^ found it very weird to watch tbqh. Joey is such a dumbass tbqh and I'd like to punch him everytime he does it stupid laugh.

As for GACKT: all the "slang" he tried to sell were known people from Okinawa and he did not go after Namie cause I believe they are "friends" or at least have respect for each other. Ge did not mean it in an ill way either. The stupidest thing to that came out of this was, again, from Joeys mouth "Namie Amuro i definitely heard that before!".

people seem to have a problem with that guy, i honestly don't get it, but then again i don't watch him to know why.....
And yeah i know G and Namie do know each other, and i do know he was literally trolling, like usually. I was just not expecting him to drag her into it.

^he is kind of dumb. he has a few funny things here and there but overall I dislike his approach - I honestly can't stand those hentai/waifu anime doods that laugh at the most unfunniest stuff.

Any more rumors on that Namie compilation?

If they decide to release a compilation, 2021 is a weird choice imo. Unless the intention is to save avex lol I’d rather chose her 30th anniversary which is in 2022, next year, and it’s pretty close already. Hope they don’t go the cheap way and instead release actual new content whether it’s remixes, unreleased material, or even Namie going to the studio again , it won’t hurt her...maybe just a photoshoot for the covers or something.
As someone already mentioned, it’s really weird the way she wished to literally disappear. Sis, you’re a legend what’s wrong with people acknowledging your material?

Fame can have a long lasting lingering impact on people , for better or for worst

I do agree that for Namie trying to erase herself from history literally is a bit too far fetch especially how much she has impacted Japan's music business over the years

Even the other retired Japanese musicians don't restore to such 'drastic' measures like her :s

The amount of hardships she had to go through during her 25 years probably influenced her decision. A shotgun wedding, murder of her mother, media turning on her because of her mother’s murder, media turning on her again calling her a has-been, her former management company using her as their cash cow, etc.

I’m sure at the end of the day she just wanted to know what it’s like to live as a normal human being, something she wasn’t able to really experience since debuting at 14-years-old. Yeah, it’s weird that she tried to erase herself, but I can understand her possible reasoning.

I completely have to agree.

And true, we have her music available for purchase but I just miss her so much

Her music is on Spotify and we can still buy her music, she's not erased her history at all? Vanishing from the public eye and deleting the website seems fine to me. She just wants to live her life.

I think it paints her in a really good light to not release compilations etc. Shows she was serious about retiring from the industry and wasn't going to be one of those people coming and going to keep getting sales.

Wasn't the main reason of her retirement her throat problems? She initially wanted to retire at 2008 after the release of BEST FICTION..

After past<FUTURE*... her problems was due to the massive number of dates on BEST FICTION Tour and past<FUTURE Tour that broke many records that time... (even tho I'm starting to doubt this thing because if she did push quite too far by doing other tours as big as past<FUTURE one. I have no doubts about her throat problems but maybe it was unsustainable after those 88+ dates tours?) hm

weel she toured a few more years (which she could have stopped) or simple recover for a few years.
I know, her vision of music is for the live stage, not the record - but she could have gone a few years like Utada did.
But anyways - She left some of the best JPop songs history starting with the Supermonkeys and closing with Finally, most of these songs I will still cherish in 10, 20 ,30 ...years

Saying that Namie wants to "erase herself from history" is a bit of a stretch imo lol.

She literally did a gazillion interviews and documentaries right before her retirement so that she and her legacy can be immortalised. All her music videos + music being on Apple Music, and then a year later on Spotify... I really don't think that's trying to erase herself from history. If anything, she knows her impact and is happy to have it live on.
