Ayumi Hamasaki TOTAL albums sales numbers [see post #186]

They just did a special on Music Station where they ranked all of the artists by total sales and Ayu is #4 in Japan. I imagine that by the end of her career she will be #1 on the list by a long shot considering that the 3 artists above her in sales have been around for a lot longer.

Utada was #9, so that should put the "who sells more" debate to rest.

I'll add the "STEP you/is this LOVE?" single sales a week after the release.

i think that the moments numbers ARE RITE cuz the sales of moments n carols were like the same....according to oricon, moments is #19, carols #20. opening week for these 2 singles was like around 160-170K, so i think that these 2 singles did sell around 300K
as for overseas versions, i dunt think many ppl OUTSIDE of japan would buy the albums...(just my thought)

from what I see, people outside japan do buy the album,, a lot of them. I remember going to HMV Singapore where about 5 people in front of me bought MY STORY. I guess the overseas version should be counted too, coz that version is the one released worldwide

I would have to disagree. Ayu ranked #3 top seller on the WORLD CHARTS last winter when she released 'MY STORY'.

the figures were 100% from japan. she sold 500K for a week, shes going to make the WORLD CHARTS, every1 would if they sold that kind of number for a week.

ORicon annual from last year, CAROLS was still in the chart for one or two more weeks after this was published. So yes, 2004 single sales weren't all that great. No big hits for Ayumi . But I think that HEAVEN ang fairyland will do better, at least HEAVEN. Looking at the top sellers there are movie tie ups.
