"Ooku" earns nearly 500 million in opening weekend

The live-action adaptation of Fumi Yoshinaga's manga "Ooku," starring Kazunari Ninomiya and Kou Shibasaki, opened this past weekend. The box office tally from its first three days (Friday-Sunday) was approximately 470 million yen, with about 400,000 tickets sold.

This is said to be a good start for the film, which is now predicted to reach 3 billion yen by the end of its theatrical run. Opening day was on the first of the month, when theaters offer cheaper tickets, so attendance numbers reached roughly 170,000 moviegoers, mostly women across a wide age range.

27th Annual Best Jeanist 2010 held in Tokyo. Chosen by popular vote nationwide, KAT-TUN's Kamenashi Kazuya (24)and singer Koda Kumi (27), was chosen five years in a row, and for the first time for men and women to enter the "Jeanist Hall of Fame" at the same time.

Actor Kiritani Kenta (30), AKB48 Itano Tomomi (19), actress Ai Haruna awarded the "Special Prize" by the Council. For this year,a new award was created to honor the Japanese athletes overseas, the "Fighting-Spirit Special Award" is awarded to the Japanese national soccer Forward, Keisuke Honda (CSKA Moscow)
Honda via video message: "I was surprised as I didn't think that I could get one of this award. I feel good. Thank you for the opportunity."

The event, that has been held since 1984 aims to increase the awareness and fun of wearing jeans. Before this, Kamenashi's seniors from Johnny, SMAP's Kimura Takuya, and Kusanagi as well as singer Hamasaki Ayumi, managed to enter the Hall of Fame.

^Since women usually stop working in Japan when they get married and from that moment on have the power over all the money the hubby earns, it does make sense. Arashi are probably getting most of their income from the salary men. And wow, I just defended Arashi on the L charts thread. Yes, you've read it right - me as an Arashi-defender, wow! Seriously though, in which bubble are those people living? Or they are not interested in anything besides Ayu and then Arashis sales come as a big shock to them....(but it's not like this hasn't been happening for years now)

haha, i really do appreciate you defending arashi! seriously, i have no clue why people are complaining when "L" ALREADY got #1! so why are they hating on arashi's sales when ayu already secured her #1 spot during her release week?

Yeah, I don't understand why we're complaining about Ayu when she already got #1 weekly and was a last week's release when Arashi just released the single only yesterday, despite Arashi's 228,000+ sales figures only for the first day is MUCH MORE than Ayu's some-70,000 sales figures for the week (!)...
