[12.03.15] T-ara to become 7~9 members, including replacing members

Core Contents Media's CEO Kim Kwangsoo announced that there will be a big change coming in April. Revealed today, the current seven member group could become eight or nine. Whether it's an addition of members, or replacing members, is not yet decided.

The purpose isn't to remove or to add but to give the members who give effort and display their skills more opportunities through activities. This is intended to introduce the principle of a competition so the opportunities aren't given to the members who are prideful and lazy.

Kim Kwangoo commented, "I've had 30 years of experience and have done much with singers starting as rookies. After three years as activities as a singer, pride and laziness is effected. Stress becomes a bigger deal and it gets harder. You can't win the competition with this type of mindset. This is what has ruined a lot of singers. If there's no effort or there is no singing skills, the members will not be given parts (measures) to sing."

Kim Kwangsoo also that to take T-ara onto another level and in order to develop the group further, T-ara's music style and concepts will change, including the group members. More information will be released on April 7th.

Meanwhile, T-ara will create a fanclub and hold a concert in July.

While I'm normally not the type of person to use really dramatic language when it comes to my favorite artists, I can honestly say that I'm close to devastated about this news. I seriously want to cry. T-ara has become one of my favorite groups, even getting more play than my absolute favorite kpop group SNSD recently. I've become really attached to the members and their music and to think that some of them could possibly be replaced (or even that they'll add new members) and that their musical style will change is beyond unbelievable to me right now. As much as I hate to say it, if they will be completely abandoning the sound that they've created (I don't mind it evolving or even trying new things but to completely abandon their style) and changing out members and adding new members which could possibly make this a completely different type of group, I will no longer be a fan. I will be a fan of today's T-ara but not the new group. If this is seriously going to happen, I wish that T-ara's current members and group as a whole would leave CCM and go to another record label who would allow them to continue on the successful path that's gotten them where they are.

when they had so much success with Breaking Heart and Absolute album they released Yayaya, their weakest song... dropped them down. Then they come back with Roly Poly, major success and awesoem Cry Cry and Lovey Dovey but split the album into two mini albums, the second one only having 2 new songs... It ruined the momentum they had... If they'd just released one album T-ara could have sold so much more! or released an album with Cry Cry and then a repackage with LD

This is just BEYOND ridiculous. I never thought I would say this (and I almost don't mean it), but I'm starting to hope their next release absolutely bombs just to show CCM that they need to stop ****ing with this group. What on Earth are they trying to accomplish? IT'S LIKE THEY WANT EVERYONE TO ABANDON T-ARA.

I wish this group could just magically teleport to another company. I wouldn't even mind if it was SME at this point.

It's downright disrespectful for that guy (Kim Kwangoo?) to call them lazy and prideful after how hard they've been working. Right now, they're keeping up busy careers in TWO countries. They've been working their assess off, so that's rude and completely uncalled for.

These poor girls, I feel so bad for them. His "if there's no effort to sing, the members will not be given parts" line makes it sound like Boram and Qri are gonna go since they had basically no parts in Cry Cry or Lovey-Dovey.

I wish I could say that the basically universal outrage against this would change their decision or something, I know it won't, since they dgaf when everyone was pissy about Hwayoung being added.

^ I think it's a different, if they add a member, the previous members are still there, but just shuffling members like that is like throwing them away... I think there has been A LOT more fuss about this than the addition of Hwayoung

I've read the news this week about the changes coming up next month and I was shocked about the news. The girls have been doing great lately with promotions and been putting out hits songs. Don't know what the CEO have in mind, but I hope he really rethink the ideas of adding more members or dropping members and changing concepts. Also, for him to call them lazy was very harsh. These girls busted their behinds since their debuts in 2009 to get to where they at right now with lack of sleeps and only to finally get their vacation for one week only and yet he still call some of them lazy? That's is just so wrong, they deserve more better way treatments then that. The announcement couldn't come at a better time when the girls is on vacation and they suppose to hold a concert in Japan and Korea in a couple of month. I can't imagine what's going on in the minds of the members. Who knows, maybe CEO is just blowing smokes out of his ears and nothing going to happen next month. Well just all have to wait the news next month and hope everything turns out the best and not the worst.

GREAT NEWS. My Korean friend, Justina, tells me that there's been a mistake with the reporting and translations. Justina says that the CEO is referring to a duet to be performed with T-ARA and the new girl group. It's just a collaboration project to bring the new group to popularity (Like how 2NE1 debuted with BIGBANG).

Still, she might be wrong. You never know, T-ARA normally has bad things happen to them whenever things start to go right.
