You two are right, this album really is amazing! I'm listening to it now since two weeks almost every day. I love how the arrangements are more simple and not too overloaded.
I especially like Saddest Song, One Night Story, Boworred Time, Nasty Radio and the Violet Blaze instrumental.

So, I just realised that Isolation, the other song on Nana's comeback single, isn't on the album or iTunes or Spotify. I found it on YouTube and it's another beautiful song.

I also stumbled across other interesting things: first off, an English interview about the album, I didn't expect I'd see one! Secondly, a 20-minute documentary about the making and promotion of VIOLET BLAZE! I can't understand a lot of it, but I think it's a cool find nonetheless.

Right now I'm on spotify and just saw that Nana has released a new single there called "想い". There are two songs on this single, 想い ( a ballad) and The End of Darkness ( a rock song).

And I found a live performance from back in 2010 where she already sang this song

Thanks for sharing that, I didn't know Omoi was finally available on Spotify! It was originally released at her 15th anniversary live on October 28th but it wasn't uploaded for a while afterwards, I think (I didn't think it was going to be on Spotify at all after a while). Omoi was actually an unreleased song originally written in the mid-2000s, as Nana shared when they announced this single release, so that's why she's already performed it live before. (I also learned today that the writer of both songs, Susumu Nishikawa, has worked with her several times in the past, including for her debut single!)

I like Omoi, it's a solid rock ballad, the song is beautiful and Nana sounds great! The End of Darkness is nice too, but nothing too memorable.

Thanks for sharing this news. Omoi is very atmospheric and wonderful at the beginning. The chorus part reminds me a lot the ballad rocks made in the last decade. It could have been used as the theme song of Nana (anime)

^Edit: we both posted the news at EXACTLY the same time lol

Nana will release a new mini album titled "New Dawn" on May 8th. It's titled after her live band "new dawn" she is performing with since some time now. The sound of the album will be more rockish again with an alternative/band sound. All lyrics are written by Nana and the song "Key" is also written by her.

I loved Violet Blaze and was hoping she would make an album like that again, but I'm still looking very much forward to this! <3 Especially since I also really liked the sound of The Teenaged Kissers.

^ Lmao, what are the odds

I also really loved VIOLET BLAZE and wouldn't have minded more material in that style. But I'm still very much looking forward to this release, good on her for chasing her muse!

I should really check out more of her back catalogue, I'm not very familiar with her early work...

^I listened to Nana a lot during my teens and there are a lot of her early songs I love. But I always found the stuff she made after "Kitade Nana" way more exciting. If you haven't listened to it yet, listen to her mini "PERFECTLY DIRTY" which she made as "THE TEENAGE KISSERS". It's so indie rock and grunge style, I love it. Her vocals are also so so so good and so fitting. God, I just love "PERFECTLY DIRTY". If the new mini is anyting like that, it will be perfect.

I think before her solo comeback I've only listened to her first album, once, ten years ago. PERFECTLY DIRTY sounds intriguing, I'll try to look it up, thanks for the recommendation!
