[Rule] ****ing rules...Nuff said. ^_^

However, it is rather strange that she opened up with a chorus. It's not her typical lyric-format. But it does showcase that she is growing as a songwriter. A song doesn't always have to be in the standard verse, bridge, chorus, repeat the same patter, breakdown, repeat the choruses format. Nor does it have to be like [MY ALL]. A song's lyrics can be rearranged in any order. As long as the order flow is good, it's ALL good to to me.

At first I was finding that starting with the chorus was weird until I remember, if it will be load at the end of the movie as for SAW (dunno what number >.> ) and X japan .... no need to bore the folks with a slow verse, attack with the chorus.

The verse own too much effect to my taste, a lil’ bit too much but yeah .... I wished it could had been even more energetic ... mostly between each chorus and verse, it remind me alterna, but I prefered Alterna parts.

Chorus maybe a bit too short sadly until the very ending chorus.

Anyway if DB will surely be a .... hmm hmmm movie, the song at last fit the action and it’s the point. Now just let hope folks won’t leave before the end of the song ^w^

I don’t think it’s really different from her previous style o-O it’s just new sound but if it wouldn’t be used for DB it would be the same. It would own its place on the album. Aaaah if only she could do more rock song *o* even harder, no prob for me lol

I really don't understand how people can say that they can hate this song....Sure you may not love it...but I genuinely think its a good songl...(well i think its a great song) definetely made it to my top ten.

About the chorus opening the song...sure even I wasn't a huge fan of that...But i can see that they wanted to start the song with a bang if you know what I mean.

and her vocals sound fine to me...

a little variation in the chorus would've been nice. but its good enough for me. ^_^ I have been listening to this song nonstop since its come out. It definetely sounds like an anime song for DBZ....they did really good trying to match it up....I have not really really enjoyed a rock song like this for awhile..

between the two previews for sparkle and rule I was a fan for rule from the very beginnning and it did not dissapoint.

lol I love how I keep seeing people say "Sparkle is better"...the only clip we have of Sparkle is 18 seconds long. How do you even know it is going to be good yet based on 18 seconds? I don't see how that is an answer to what you think of Rule (FULL VERSION)...

Right now I'm listening through crappy laptop speakers. But I must say that I love the music and structure of the song. It sounds like something that I will probably get into quite a bit.

About the vocals, I agree that they sound a bit weak. I feel like her vocals have been getting that way from Secret on and through much of this song they sound very processed but then at other times quite live (but not exactly great though.)

This song can be used in SAW VI too. This kind of rock music FITS so well in SAW series, IMO. Can SAW directors think about using Ayu too?

THIS. Even the slower parts feel more energetic.

I rather like the fact that she opens with a chorus. One of my favorite thing about this song is the structure.

I love RULE and the 18 sec clip of Sparkle but I don't compair them, there both good in what they are, I also wouldn't jump saying sparkle is better until the full version of sparkle is available, can't wait to hear the remix of RULE

Haha, I love this song... I love pretty much all of Ayu's rock songs. This song completely fits in with the Dragon Ball movie. Fast, aggressive, hard rock here and there, totally energetic. I don't think this sounds like any other of Ayu's rock songs O.o It's one of her most unique ones, to be honest. Her vocals in this song don't bother me either.

I'm not sure why people are complaining about her opening up with the chorus? It's not like she hasn't done that before. Off the top of my head, hasn't she pretty much done that with Alterna, Poker Face, Vogue and Fly High?

because imo RULE is so bad, the preview of sparkle sounds much better than rule in whole.

it's nothing to do with vocals with me, i just think the composition of rule is sooo ugly. but then again, i have a feeling dbz will be a crappy movie.

Agreed. It's not like Ayu gets to decide everything ALL by herself. She can't be thinking "oh a song for DB! I'll make a nice ballad like Days~"... the director/producers of the movie probably told her AND her composers/arrangers how they would like the theme song to be - action-packed, aggressive and energetic.

And what's with the surprise of opening songs with the chorus? Lol, a lot of her old songs (in A Song For xx and LOVEppears especially) are in that structure... and glitter too, if you're looking into newer songs.

In any case, something tell me they'll play the instrumental of Rule in all the action scenes like whoa Goku shooting his CGI-energy sphere thingy... and then the audience would be like 'whoa what a cool song!'... and then at the credits Rule just starts like that and omg it'll be so cool! I'm really excited for this!

Which is the saddest part about the whole thing for me.

I don't know, I think when you have an artist creating songs specifically for tie-ups it really hurts some of the artist's credibility. Especially such an artist as Ayu who is pretty much known for writing lyrics about her own experiences. That's why I always felt distance from the song 'HEAVEN', even though it's a really good song, I know she wrote it specifically for SHINOBI and it takes some of the magic out of it. Although 'HEAVEN' was basically pop perfection, it lacked what ballads like 'JEWEL', 'Together When...', and 'No way to say' had. 'fated', although written for a movie, seemed a bit different because the lyrics did relate to what she was going through with Nagase at the time.

I agree.. though I guess it's really hard to actually say something good about the vocals when you dislike the melody.

hahaha, I like it,, though IMO this song'll be very hard to be perform live~ (too much sound effects)

I really love Rule, it's very edgy and upbeat. Heavy too, I love Ayu's heavy songs, and I agree with the OP, she does sing similar to Gackt in this song, maybe she's taking notes from him?

Haha, but I love it, I love (what I've heard of) Sparkle, too!

It always comes down to personal tastes (or biases). There's really not much other explanation. Any farthur explanation can lead to over-analyzing. It's almost always a simple love/hate/in-between opinion. One person can say she loves the song because of the vocals (or composition, etc.) while someone else hates the song for the exact same reason.

For me, I love the song and that's it. (and as long as the kamehameha move is not in the PV) ^_^

god i can't wait for the PV of Rule, i love this song so much. it's definitely in my top 5 ayu rock songs
