I'm hoping that after Ayu's 50th single, she'll take a little break. It's not impossible, because I think her 50th will be the one that surpasses Seiko's record if she can keep the #1's. Two more singles and she'll be tied, three more, break it! =D

TOUR sales volume never adds to oricon sales
Yes, they do.

http://biz.oricon.co.jp/information_eventsales.asp
However, since September 2009, they've only counted 30%. (Or a maximum of 3,000 copies?) I don't know where you got that they didn't count them at all, since sales are sales even if they aren't a "shop" per se.

Think about how sales shot up during the concert days for Mirrorcle World. It's the only logical explanation. (This is in 2008.)

I was always quite sure that tour sales counted. But I really wonder, why are only about 30% counted since like you said, sales are sales even if they aren't in a shop.

I wasn't sure if they counted concert sales, either... ****, they may as well not! I mean, tens of thousands of people attend each concert. Hopefully only a couple thousand are buying at the concerts. Otherwise, there's literally thousands of copies that won't be counted. Then again, there probably is only a small percentage of people who are buying at the concerts, so I guess it's not the biggest deal.... Still very stupid, though, the way the system is.

I know! And 30% is really an odd number to be counting, isn't it?

The reason is mainly because it's possible to manipulate the sales figures in favor of the artists who do events/etc. in question. I think it's especially the case for like AKB48 and other idols (male or female) who do handshake events and sell thousands that way.

It's looking like AT09 will be her best selling tour [on Oricon, not RIAJ's shipped thing] since A MUSEUM~

Midday numbers for today. Ayu's doing rather well, selling more than everyone else who released this week other than Hideaki Tokunaga.

You do have a point, but I can't stress enough how little iTunes matters in the Japanese music world. In Japan, mobile sales are preferred to PC sales, and even when only looking at PC sales, iTunes only makes up for 10% of total sales. Really, it's only a tiny portion.

But you ARE right that Johnny's doesn't release chaku uta-full songs. So if their fans want the entire song, they're going to have to buy the physical CD, giving them an easy advantage. In my opinion, it's a cheap way to make your artists seem much more popular than they are.

Mirrocle World's sales is done by avex.
I don't know if oricon will add 3000 copies(or just 30%) from all TOUR sales
I will ask to make sure about this .
I'm not sure about RNRC(but before all albums haven't added TOUR sales)
But one thing is for sure that official import(HK.TW etc.) JP press won't add to oricon sales since 2010

The concert tour started when Mirrorcle World went on sale, with dates on the day of release and also the weekend of.

It makes sense imo. There were also various extras that came with ordering the single at the venue.

And how exactly do you know that? Who are you going to ask? Do you have some source at avex who knows? Oricon = the ones who are counting sales, and they're the ones saying that 3,000 / 30% are being counted from event / non-vendor sales since late 2009 in the press release.

And why would they? That'd be like sales at the Kinokuniyas or Sanseido Books here in the States counting towards Oricon.

of course ask for avex staff
here is the message from an avex staff
no,the only sales from CD stores system (+some net sales) count to oricon chart
if not such ways.it won't be included
I asked for him just now:if oricon includes TOUR CD sales
I know oricon will count
but TOUR sales is from avex you know
if avex won't send their sales volume
oricon can do nothing -_-

Because it allowed record companies to cheat. Actual stores have digital ways that count the number of copies sold, however at concerts, its basically done by hand. So technically, record companies could make up any number that they want and report it to Oricon. So nowadays, Oricon only counts 30% of what the record companies claim that they sold at the concerts.

And no, I still don't and never will believe that the Mirrorcle World sales that weekend were 100% legitimate. But I doubt that she is the only artist that has had to secure number ones that way. That's why imo the 30% thing is a really good thing now.

They do release chaku-uta full, but not as often as non-Johnny's artists however. Chaku-uta or not though, many Johnny's artists are actually that popular.

I was basically saying that they would never count overseas sales in brick & mortar stores of Japan presses as part of Oricon. There's no need to especially since the numbers probably aren't that big. (I was agreeing with you.)

Of course, of course. Almost like when AAA jumped up in the last day for MIRAGE, haha.

Sales are sales though. Do you really think avex wouldn't report thousands of copies sold at the venue?

I know your meaning
one of TOHOSHINKI's fans send an email to HMV.jp
their responce is overseas sales will count to oricon
they will send their numbers once a week
so I don't know if it will be surely counted

HMV's sales counting towards Oricon is like how YesAsia and CDJapan count towards Oricon though.

It is not the same as a record store in the United States or Taiwan or China selling a copy of the Japanese press, haha.
