Do ya'll actually think that the public overreacted to what Kuu said? If you didn't know, infertility is a big problem in Japan, so hearing someone famous say such a rude comment must have hurt a lot of women. It's not something that the public overreacted about, they had a good reason to be pissed at her. And her apology was total bull and then she comes out with a crap single. The only song that I can listen to all the time is Once Again, other than that, the single is pure fail. If she really wanted people to take her seriously, she would've stepped up her game and did a true apology to the public. It all seemed rehearsed and unemotional to me, Kuu cries like that at the end of every concert, so why should I believe that those tears were because she was sorry? MOON doesn't deserve a number one, end of story.

I see that people are talking about that one apology with the no make-up/no nails look. Actually, she has apologized at her tour and at almost every public appearance to ease the damage.

And you know what, the fact that GLAY has been around longer probably means they have a larger core fanbase than Kuu, which would make it so much easier for them to get number 1. And Kuu had it A LOT harder getting to her #1 than Ayu. Ayu's FIRST album went to number one, Kuu didn't get a number one studio album until her FIFTH, Black Cherry. Kuu's had FOUR number 1 singles, Ayu has had THIRTY. So don't tell me who has had it harder and who hasn't. Sure, Ayu deserves those singles more than Kuu cuz Ayu works the hardest of all, but Kuu defintely deserves for her 4 elements singles to get number 1 if any. UVERworld isn't that newbie, either. They have been around for a while. Not a REALLY long time, but long enough to have a fanbase. I think Kumi struggled with her career more than anyone else. Ai's fame came by her second single, Ayu, her first album and Hikki and Namie, their first singles. Kumi didn't start becomnig really popular until her 4th album, and she worked for it HARD. And I understand infertility is an issue but still, they totally shunned this girl. The fact that she wants to remain a singer is admirable and for that alone she deserves the number 1. If it was me, I probably would have quit. I mean, can you understand the pain and sorrow Kumi must have went through because of this incident? It's probably enough to make one go insane. And for that, her will and struggle, she deserves the number 1 SO much more than anyone else.

@criminal: But don't that make it only worse for her when she keeps bringing it up while people try to forget it? I don't actually understand why she has to keep saying it when she already apologized on tv for it. People are at her concerts to watch her perform, no to watch her cry and apologize for the same thing over and over. It gets irritating you know. LOL @ the no make-up/nail art comment.

That's something kumi brought upon herself though =\
If the japanaese fans will really like the songs on it MOON will get #1 or at least #2. There's nothing wrong in top 3 (depends for who and for what and the situation) anyway. |

Zachery!, MOON won't get #1 because the single is absolute crap. Worst single released by the big divas (Hikki, Ayu, Namie, Kuu) this year by far. It's total junk and whoever wrote that crap should be fired. I don't know what all this debate is about, Kuu doesn't deserve anything putting out total junk singles and she won't get number one, case closed.

![]() You shouldn't deserve a single because you struggled over something that you brought upon yourself. A number one single should have good music and MOON doesn't. |

What are you talking about? And I like how you skip over Ai.
Then again, she's really lost her touch, hasn't she? And no, "MOON", while it may nto be her best, is still a fabulous single. Certainly better than "Prisoner of Love" and "Mirrorcle World". Althoguh it is not be better than "60s70s80s". Either way, she deserves the number 1. She's been through a lot, is working hard with her tour, and this is a 4 a-side single. It deserves number 1 more than any single this year. Maybe she should get the number 1 just so she can feel better, bring up her hopes and spirits. Raise her morale. That's another reason she should get number 1. She probably really needs a pick-me-up.

![]() ![]() ![]() You obviously don't understand what THEY went through when she said that. It was ******* obvious that AVEX wasn't going to drop her because of that incident and it was ******* obvious that Kuu wasn't going to stop singing because of that either. So saying that is she deserves #1 has not be proven. Besides, it WAS her fault for starting the whole thing. ![]() ![]() ![]() Quote:

So if a girl goes through an alleyway, she doesn;t have even teh right to and doesn't deserve to escape? (and yes, this is relevant to the Kuu chat. Try re-reading everything and you will see why)

yeesh, this whole thing is getting a lot of steam. Basically Kumi apologized repeatedly and I'm not saying the Japanese public had no right to be angry and upset and I understand that the statement meant a little more in Japan than it would somewhere else but I think the backlash on her was too harsh. Really?! What else do people want from her to put this whole thing behind her? I was under the impression that things had cooled down but now I'm thinking maybe not.
Okkkk, this whole "deserves" thing may be getting out of hand. I'm seeing outrightly saying Kumi's single is crap and it sucks and having that opinion is fine but just stating it doesn't really take the argument anywhere. Some people like it and some people don't, we can just leave it that. Comparing it Ayu and Hikki and Namie singles isn't helping anything either. Hikki and Ayu's music styles are nothing like Kuu's. Hikki's popularity also stemmed from the fact that she was like bringing a new sound into the J-pop market. And it's not like Kuu hasn't written any lyrics of her own. For her popularity, there are a lot of songs that got her noticed - real Emotion / 1000 no Kotoba, Cutie Honey and of course Butterfly. I wouldn't say the Final Fantasy single put her on the map...it just got her into the public eye more with a hit song. And I wouldn't say her first albums sucked, that's just an opinion. I think secret was an amazing album filled with great songs from start to finish. Her singles did a little better, she had Cutie Honey as a success, her true ero-kakkoi image began and she had the extra PVs to promote the album. Struggling...I mean everybody has had their struggles. Kuu's struggle to maintain an an image that she didn't create for herself and all of the people who said stuff about it; seeing her sister have such fame while she didn't. I think Kuu's were more a personal thing than a public disaster or something but she's turning away from ero-kakkoi image and if nothing, she's straying away from something that she isn't comfortable with and even if you don't like her or her music, you gotta give her credit for that.
