【倖田】　特に意識していたわけじゃないんですけどね。たまたま“くぅちゃん”的な楽曲が続いていて。ファ ンからも“カッコいいくぅちゃんが見たい”って声も上がっていたり、私自身も“そろそろセクシーに思い切り 踊る楽曲をやりたいな”っていう思いがあったんですよね。

――サウンドはもちろん「TABOO」というタイトルもパンチがありますよね。“禁じられた行為”や“犯し てはならない領域”を意味するこの言葉をタイトルに掲げた理由は？
【倖田】　この楽曲は“タブー”を歌っているわけじゃなく、逆に“タブーなんて存在しないんじゃないの？” というメッセージが込められているんですよ。みんなそれぞれ自分のなかに“これはやっちゃいけない”という タブーを持っていると思うんですね。それは、人生を歩み失敗や経験を繰り返すなかで作られてきた自分のルー ル。そのルールは自分を守るために必要なものであるとは思うんですけど、自分を縛りつけてしまうこともある と思うんですよね。トライしてみなきゃわからないのに、その前からNoサインを出してしまったり、タブーを 打ち破り挑戦することで見えてくる新しい世界もきっとあると思うんです。ときには守りに入るのではなく勇気 をもって攻めてみてもいいんじゃないか、と。そんな想いがこの曲には込められているんです。


――つまりは「みんなもっと自由になってもいいんじゃないか？」と。
【倖田】　そうですね。私の周りには年上の女性の友達がたくさんいるんですけど、彼女達がよくこんなことを 言うんですね。「年々、何事に対しても臆病になっていく自分を感じてしまう」って。それが如実に表れるのが 恋愛でして。過去の失敗やトラウマが新しい恋へと踏み出すその第一歩を躊躇（ちゅうちょ）させたり、傷つく のが怖くて告白する前からあきらめてしまったりね。その気持ちは私もものすごくわかるんですけど・・・挑戦 する前から想像だけで自己完結してしまうのはもったいないなって思うんです。想いを伝えなきゃ何も変わらな いこともあるし、動き始められないのになって。今作は、そんなふうに恋愛や人生に少し臆病になっている人の 背中を“もっと自分を自由にしてあげて！”と押したくて作った曲でもあるんですよね。

――ちなみに、倖田さんは臆病になったりはしないんですか？
【倖田】　もちろん、ありますよ～（笑）。私自身、年々、臆病になっていく自分を感じますもん 。

――そんなときはどうするんですか？
【倖田】　“やってみなきゃわからない！”をモットーにたとえ周りが“8割ダメ”といったとしても、私は“ 残りの2割に勝負をかける！！”という姿勢で挑む努力をします！人生は1回きりだから！もっといろんな世界 を見たいですし、いろんな経験をしたい。そのためには、“臆病になって足踏みしている時間なんてない！！” そう言い聞かせながらね（笑）。

^For one, she only has two singles to promote a new album which in her case isn't enough. I seriously doubt they'd put all the tracks from on the album. They'll prolly add MC and TAC. Taboo was just released and looking at the 1st week sales. It's not really convincing people to buy the album. Releasing a best/compilation will prolly sell great and make for the losses made with Kingdom. Plus most of the big AVEX artists are releasing compilations and best this year so it wouldn't be too long a shot to think that they might be planning one for her as well.

And best second session was basically a studio album, since none of those songs were on any other albums, only released as singles.

i really don't think a compilation album would sell well. the majority of her material is already on one compliation or another. besides, b-sides are just b-sides, and even though she has a few stand-out ones, i really don't think it'd sell well. her popularity isn't what it used to be anymore, and she needs more new material to generate more interest instead of putting things out that have already been heard before. that's just my opinion though, i'd be upset if she'd be putting out something i've already heard instead of giving us new material.

i don't think two singles is enough for an album, especially since her 2 most recent albums had 5 singles each. i hope she'll release a double a-side or something like that in the winter, maybe a ballad and a pop song and then maybe early spring album release. that's if avex wants her to tour again in the spring/summer... and since her tours make a lot of money, i'd assume they'd want her to, and she can't really go on tour singing the same songs.

i know she has enough songs to have a tour, but seeing the same songs performed over and over gets boring after a while.
