These are just artists that people like on a personal level. Ayumi has a lot of people who absolutely hate her in Japan. No Japanese person I've met has ever really hated Hikki.

Isn't because Ayu acts like such a "diva", I remember reading a post saying she can't leave without her own blankets, pillows, and sheets when she stays at a hotel. She needs her teddy bear, and that once she sent her bodyguards all the way from Singapore back to Japan to get her "lucky jeans". I'd hate that attitude too, Hikki's seems like she would be more reserved if anyone of us here were to hang out with her.

No, it isn't because ayu acts like such a "diva".
It's because the people on the poll are mainly people who the readers can relate to them and "be like them" more.
You also don't see kuu on there which surprised me a bit actually even if she isn't as relateable.

^Yeah, I think people can't relate to Ayumi very much. Too diva-ish and rich. Kuu is the same way, but mostly because most Japanese girls can't relate to being so sl*tty, IMO.

Regardless, I'm glad Utada has a "down to earth" image as opposed to a "diva" image (even though I like Ayumi and her diva presence, because she is one, and there's nothing wrong with it).

Well I don't think there's anything wrong with presenting yourself as a Diva, such as stage presence and appearance and all of that, but as far as ACTUALLY BEING ONE in real life, they tend to be rude and inconsiderate and conceited and that is what is not cool. Even so, you still here them call Utada a Diva of Japan. Maybe somehow her presentation career wise, such as performances and stuff comes off as a Diva.

I know the first time I heard her voice, and I hadn't any knowledge of who she was, how she looked, how old she was, I just knew she would be this very mature and much older and distinguished women. Then I found out about her and who she really was and was like "whoa". She may have a Diva voice, but as far as everything else is concerned, she's just a plain goof ball of a girl. I like that though.

^wow... releasing an album + a recut single is quite a bit for hikki in a year actually..

i think aiko plays well with her neighbour girl (or now neighbour woman). I think she's popular, but not very popular. The only aiko song I like is called Hatsukoi (means "First Love" in Japanese). It was released long time ago (I think... between 2000 - 2002?).
