Hey people, I just got into AKB48 thanks to the masterpiece Heart Electric. Could maybe one of you kind people, point me in the direction of some basic knowledge? I mean, some page that tells me the names and faces of all members or whatever! I am finding it extremely difficult to get into the group because of so many people lol

Just FYI most of the distinct, interesting, and talented members already graduated (Maeda Atsuko, Shinoda Mariko, Itano Tomomi, ect). AKB48 is currently in transition into what they call the new era of AKB48. I'll just give you a crash course on the girls from Heart Ereki though:

Oshima Yuko - the one with the big boobs and squirrel teeth. She centered AKB48's most infamous song, Heavy Rotation. She's really cute and funny. An all around talent who already has an extensive modeling and acting resume. After Maeda Atsuko graduated, she has basically become AKB48's #1 member.


Watanabe Mayu - the one that looks like an anime character brought to life. She is also in contention to be the center of AKB48 and in many ways, has already replaced Maeda Atsuko as the group's face. At first she was mostly a crybaby who also wanted to have things her way, but she has grown to be one of the most respected members currently in AKB48.


Kojima Haruna - the group's veteran beauty...but also a self-admitted bimbo. During AKB48's early days, she was featured prominently in the front...and has since maintained relatively high popularity. She's also the one who surprised the heck out of the entire AKB48 fandom by being picked as the center girl in Heart Ereki...her first time as a solo center.


Slutshihara Rino - the aspiring porn star who banged some shady dude and was almost kicked out for it. She was subsequently shoved into HKT48, a then developing group, thus ruining it forever. An all-around talentless attention-whore, she will not hesitate to shove her face into anything and everything a 48 group is doing. She was also elected as #1 last year because she implied to fans that it's possible to sex an idol...and they bought into it. She will be having another scandal soon (or a porno book) apparently so maybe she'll disappear at last.


Kashiwagi Yuki - A text-book idol who auditioned for Morning Musume (more like Morning Museum now anyway) and was not chosen. She ended up becoming one of the top 3 most popular girls in AKB48, helping them sell millions and making the Morning Museum producer shit his pants in frustration.


Takahashi Minami - a remnant of the glory days of AKB48. She is the general manager of the entire 48-family, but started out as a 1st generation member of AKB48. Her dream is to become a solo singer. Although she has the stature of a midget, she has the immense passion that honestly, is the only thing carrying this entire group right now. She could have graduated long ago to pursue her dreams, but instead chose to stay with AKB48 and advance it ever so.


Minegishi Minami - another 1st generation member. You might know her because she drew global attention to AKB48 by freaking out and shaving her head....basically causing everyone in the world to associate AKB48 as being a pedophile-serving abuse factory. At least she owned up to it, unlike some, and is now the captain of the new AKB48 Team 4. Although she is kinda ugly, she is one of AKB48's smartest and most dedicated members.


Matsui Jurina - A (fake) AKB48 member who is also the center of SKE48. She was first shoved in our faces as the center of AKB48's first single under King Records, Oogoe Diamond at the ripe age of....11....wait what? Oh well, guess it didn't matter cause at 11, she looked like she could be 20 anyway (photo is of Jurina at 11). She must be blood related to 48 producer Akimoto Yasushi or something, cause he shoves her in everything. This is further perpetuated in the fact that she "won" the recent rock-paper-scissors tournament that chooses AKB48's center member for their upcoming single.


Matsui Rena - the other SKE48 member who has become very popular. For some reason, she is most well known for being a crazy bitch in AKB48's (really terrible) drama. She is a natural beauty, but somewhat reserved


Oota Aika - the (only legitimate) HKT48 member of the single. She was originally an AKB48 member who decided to transfer groups, and it has seemingly paid off for her. At the peak of her prominence in AKB48, she was one of the group's youngest members. Now she is the role model for her younger peers in HKT48.


Yamamoto Sayaka - She is the center of AKB48 sister group NMB48. She also serves as their captain. She is musically talented and a well-liked leader. However, she can seem like an enigma at times.


Watanabe Miyuki - the more interesting NMB48 alternative, to say the least. She also holds concurrency as an AKB48 member. She is best known for her body and her ability to "fish" in her fans at handshake events (which basically means she flirts with them until their hearts can take no more). Once upon a time in the early days of NMB48, she had a small scandal and her future was uncertain. However, now she is rocketing up the ranks in popularity. She also gave us one of the most epic AKB48 photos in history (her troll shot from above).


Yokoyama Yui - Team A's current captain. She is an overall boring girl but has grown quite a lot since her inception as a full member. Originally, she was the haphazardly chosen replacement for AKB48 front girl Ono Erena. She never lived up to that role but has become an admirable (but still very very boring) role model to the younger generation.


Shimazaki Haruka - One of the younger generation members in AKB48....and a candidate for future center. She is famous for having a pretty bad case of resting-bitch-face-syndrome.


Kawaei Rina - Another one of the younger generation members...and a likely future ace member. Unfortunately, she also recently won the title of AKB48's dumbest member....but she got to center a song for that so it all worked out.


Iriyama Anna - Apparently, another one of the newer generation girls. I don't know shit about this girl but she is pretty. Pretty ordinary that is. No clue she was even there tbh. She's got beauty but not much else.

As a relatively new fan I know only popular songs of AKB48, so for me it's always pleasure to find new gems.

Right now I have "Jun'ai no Crescendo" on repeat. I think I heard it first at Mariko's last theatre stage. I immediately loved it that time, though it wasn't performed by original No sleeves girls. then I was very lucky to see them live (no3b) at Sapporo Dome. and it was sooo great it's a shame if they don't include it on DVD.

after the concert I forgot about the song a bit, but now I finally downloaded it and just can't stop listening!
