her clothes are like Dorothy's clothes, the biggest hint there is the Silver Shoes she's wearing (I love it when people reference Baum instead of the movie <3)

Dorothy had silver shoes in The Wizard of Oz. I don't recall if Baum gave Dorothy a hair color, and the pig man could be connected to a later Oz book, I'm not entirely sure, but I feel like I've heard it before

Hm, well, referencing one's legs or standing usually is referencing strength, will, etc. So maybe she writes all that as an outlet of her thoughts about those types of things; specifically, something like, 'I can do this,' or, 'I am able,' etc., etc.? Like, maybe that's her biggest outlook on life. Or.... Maybe it's just a coincidence--maybe she just likes to write about that, even if it's not personal to her..... Orrr... Maybe it's all a coincidence in general, hah.

I suppose that it IS possible that you're right. She's said that her lyrics now aren't about her but more stories from "her world". So it's quite interesting that these lyrics are taken from her earlier career, under EMI-Japan.

I would kill for another Borderline or SHINE (well, the ultimate collection version, I mean--funny, I don't really like the original at all, but the new version is AMAZING)!!

They're both such powerful, kinda dark sounding songs, and with beautiful piano.

Okay, so, wait... The only time SHINE is all poppy and non-piano is the single version....? In other words, it's the piano version on both the best and the original album...?? If so, that's awesome, because it's definitely the better version!! Just, I've downloaded INSOMNIA a few times now, and it's always had the non-piano version as "SHINE [album version]"... And, if the piano one is actually the album version, that makes so much more sense, lol. Because it's an "album version" in the ultimate collection, too, so that confused me......And I'm confusing myself about all this now, so I'll just wait for your answer. XD

SHINE is the upbeat one. SHINE (album version) is the haunting piano.

BACK DOOR is the upbeat one. BACK DOOR (album version) is the piano one.

SHINE = Only on Single or SINGLES 2000-2003
SHINE (album version) = Only on INSOMNIA or the ultimate collection
BACK DOOR = Only on single
BACK DOOR (album version) = Only on INSOMNIA and the ultimate collection

Okay, that's how I thought the "album versions" were supposed to work, but every SHINE "album version" I've gotten off of INSOMNIA downloads have been wrong, then! >.< Funny enough, the BACK DOOR ones have been right, which made it even more confusing for me...

Glad that's sorted out now, lol. XD

Haha that's good! I have the album so I'm happy <3 The download on Japanese Music Dream has the correct SHINE track though...Anyway, How did we all get into Chihiro?

I got into Chihiro after watching a comedian make fun of Gekkou. I just had to hear the original song after watching the comedian and I fell in love<3
