Take 5 is one of her best songs ever. It's just compositional genius. Did they ever discuss why she just decided to end it so abruptly?

I love hikki...omg...maybe I'm biased, but take 5 is just perfect. That's my song right there.

And HEART STATION is actually a great album, but I can see how it wouldn't be someone's style.

Example, namie's music bores me to death, except for one song. It's just not my style. But that doesn't mean it's bad, or it was composed badly, or that it sucks.

Love "Tokyo Nights". For the longest time it was my most favorite song on the Album.

^OMG! Thank you! I luff Tokyo Nights to deff. I must admit I didn't like it at first but I ended up giving it a few more listens and it became of my fave Hikki non-single tracks.

Why does everyone hate Play Ball and ASAP tho? DDD: Play Ball is so catchy to sing to. ASAP is like one of Hikki's best R&B songs. That song and TN should have gotten its own pvs. Shiwase ni Narou is good song as well. I really like singing it when I hear the song. IMO, the only track that keeps Deep River from being a masterpiece is Uso Mitai ni I Love You. I eff'n hate that song with a passion. (>_>)

@emiko: Take 5 is about death so Hikki wanted to ended unexpectedly....because you know, death is like unexpected. lol

My first Hikki album was ULTRA BLUE and...
Passion is my favorite song of hers.
I agree about Take 5, it is a genius song.
But Passion....wow...

^OMG! I LOVE YOU LUV!!! Tokyo Nights, Play Ball, Shiawase ni Narou and A.S.A.P are seriously like the best!! Gosh... but I have to say I do like Uso Mitaina I love you! Sorry! LOL! And Teiku 5 was easily my favourite song off HEART STATION when I first listened to the album!

Also, does anyone agree with me when I say that all tracks on ULTRA BLUE are epic...? Like EVERY SONG... Seriously Dareka no Negai ga Kanau Koro is I think Hikki's best ballad ever!

Sorry for just a rambling reply! I get a bit hyped up on Hikki sometimes

I love the singles, but I'd be better off just listening to Singles Collection Vol. 1 if I wanna hear them instead of skipping through all the crap album tracks.

I know a lot of people would say that about HEART STATION, but I definitely disagree. "Beautiful World", "Prisoner of Love", "Fight the Blues", "HEART STATION", "Flavor of Life", "Kiss & Cry", "Stay Gold" and "Teiku 5" are 110% amazing to me.
I respectfully disagree, Deep River owns Heart Station, and if you think about it all the songs you listed for Heart Station are singles except for Teiku 5, and Fight The Blues, and POL doesn't count as a single as it was released after the album. I love Heart Station, it's a good album, but Deep River is a winner. Tokyo Nights amazing song!, Shiawase Ni Narou prolly my favorite non-single track on the album, ASAP is just wonderful, it's what music is about, and Play Ball...I mean come on, how can you NOT love that song?!

i'm like to myself "UTADA REFRENCE" and this girl is also asian (or at least she looks it) so maybe she's a secret fan?

Maybe the one of the writers is a fan too.

It's funny hearing Hikki's stuff on american tv. lol Just the other day, I was watching CNN again and they played an intro of Hotel Lobby. lol I've been meaning to ask Robin (the host of a show on CNN) which staff member is a Hikki fan. XD

So? I loved all the singles except "Boku wa Kuma", and I loved all the non-singles except "Celebrate". And even those two aren't too bad. With DEEP RIVER I dislike everything but the singles (including the title track, which was a promo song). However, this doesn't stop me from absolutely adoring the single tracks. "Sakura Drops", "Hikari", "traveling", "Letters" and "FINAL DISTANCE" are some of the most epic songs I've ever heard in my life.

YES, I totally agree. UB is epic through and through. "Making Love", "Dareka no Negai..." and "Wings" are my favorites though.

I never was that big on "日曜の朝". It's okay and I can listen to it, but it's just one of my least liked songs. I actually just listened to "日曜の朝" today. I like to go back to songs and listen to them to see if I can find something new in it that I may bring me around. I'll never understand though how "日曜の朝" can be Utada's favorite song off of that Album.

And "Dareka No Negai Ga Kanau Koro" and "Wings" are alright and do what they set out to do, but I choose not to listen to them often. I actually didn't start liking "Making Love" until like late last year or early this year. Upon a listen, I just happened to catch something new in it that I hadn't given any thought to before and I love it now.

And of course, "Eclipse (Interlude)" is kind of disappointing for an Interlude.

I look at CNN like a fiend, but I never caught that. Do you know the name of the show that played that Intro? Where did they insert it in the program?

^It's called Morning Express with Robin Meade It comes on like 5 in the morning on weekdays and goes off at 10 am (My time is central so yours is prolly on at a different time in the morning). The most play the featured songs when going onto CM breaks...so just watch it. lol It's good IMO. (I'm a CNN fan so my opinion might seem biased. )

With the others I also rebelliously agree with you!
DEEP RIVER is so much more than HEART STATION, for me HS doesn't get even near the level of it, Distance and UB.
Those three were so much better and had high quality songs and they all sound like "come and listen to me" and had some uniqueness unlike most of HS.

My favorite track on DEEP RIVER is FINAL DISTANCE and for non single song it's play ball along with uso mitai na ~I love you~ and tokyo NIGHTS, I don't understand how can they be hated but oh well, different tastes.

To think about it, I think many people wouldn't like First Love and Heart Station because Hikki's voice is young in FL and messed up from her tour in HS. I think her voice piked during the Deep River era and during some of the songs in Ultra Blue, but her last tour just really ruined her vocal chords. She still has a great voice, but she's much more raspy. It sucks.

I've noticed that she may have lost Vocal Control since the tour. I was fearing that she may never get it back with how long it's been, but then I heard and saw her latest "Music Lovers" performances and they were perfect, pitch perfect, so that restored my hope.

For her next tour, if she does another one, I want her to perform 3 songs and go home. Ha.
