I'm still sticking with it being her favorite color. I remember it from somewhere. Maybe she has more than one or maybe she changed. Purple and Blue are in the same palette family. Hmmm.....

I can remember she said something like

Utada: "Blue can mean a lot"
Host: "yeah blue can hold a lot of meanings, is it your favorite color as well?'
Utada: "Yes it is! But Blue on its own sounded a bit boring, so that's why I chose Ultra Blue!"

it was something like that. I'm absolutely sure she said Blue is her favorite color.

oh and she also said Nichiyo no Asa is her favorite song on the album, because it shows her everyday life.
