I was watching The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (season 1) and suddenly in the transition from a scene to the other they played a song that has the same intro as "shine more" with the violins (I believe its violins lol) but in a slower rhythm. Does anybody knows if "shine more" used a sample of some other song? Or vice-versa. I tried to Shazam it but it haven't work.

Sandra Pires (one of the song writers) did an English version of the song. It was also in Veronica Mars.

RuPaul has the same sample in one scene from Season 4 lol I even tweeted about it: https://twitter.com/hhhhudddd/status...91222332104704

I think it's just from a pack of samples and they happened to use in shine more.

Currently re-watching Genius 2000 Tour. It’s such a clear contrast for me, how much more I like TK’s songs rather than Dallas Austin, whose stuff seems kind of at odds with Namie’s vocal style, and they’re kind of boring in my opinion. TK’s compositions are so much more catchy and engaging. I’m really glad she moved on from DA to working with producers like Nao’ymt, even though I miss the fun guitar, piano, bass and drums production of TK’s 90’s and early 2000s. Kenji Sano is hands down my favorite of her live music producers/arrangers.

There are a few DA songs I like, Put em up is one, Something bout the kiss, think of me... He definitely has some I like, and TK has some pretty bad compositions during this era too, but aside from the ones above, I don't really like DA's Namie compositions. I found them boring, even in the live arrangements.

^hmm GENIUS 2000 Tour actually made me like the album - break the rules tour was weird tho, but not bad. I think the songs were a great transition.

a side from the singles LEAVIN FOR LA, STILL IN LOVE and NEXT TO YOU are the only songs I really really love on that album and they are all DA production if I'm not mistaken, where as I still feel like I have to sit trough THNGS I COLLECTED, YOU ARE THE ONE and GIVE IT A TRY which should al be TK productions.

Interesting. Yeah, the Tour made me like the album a little more. I tend to skip the song’s you mentioned, they’re not bad songs, just not to my taste. Things I collected and give it a try are pretty boring for me too tbh. You are the one is ok, but I also tend to skip it if I’m not in the mood for it, though I really like the live version. I tend to listen to or watch the live version of Genius 2000 way more than the studio album, I do like the singles from this album though. But then again I like listen to lives more than studio recordings in general. Studio arrangements tend to feel a little flat or boring to me once I’ve heard a good live arrangement. Totally agree about break the rules. Weird tour, but still fun to watch and it was kind of a blending of her styles up until that point.

Also I think me liking TK’s stuff more than DA is just due to the number of songs they produced for her. TK did a lot more with her so there’s just a higher number of songs I like, bc there are definitely some of his songs I find really boring or badly composed/arranged. Some of the songs on Sweet 19 Blues, Private, Rainy Dance, I was a fool are so boring to me.

^haha yeah well isn't it okay to dislike one or the other. When a song gets produced there were at least two people who thought "I really like that, I want it on an album" which does not mean everyone will love it. I actually really enjoy PRIVATE.

And I agree with the live arrangements - its pretty obvious especially for this part of her career (the LOVE ENHANCED part) and the two albums after that a good band really makes a song. Did not have that feeling for the last few albums, but there are many live recordings I listen to more often than the studio version (Namies ravex collaboration or Break It when she performed it as an encore during the time it came out for example, or A Song for XX when it comes to Ayumi)

^ For sure. Personal preference is just that...personal preference. Just because one person doesn’t enjoy it doesn’t mean it’s a bad song or that other people wouldn’t enjoy it, everyone just has their own tastes and it’s good to diversify what you’re offering bc you can’t please everyone 100% of the time.

Yeah, once I’ve heard a cool live arrangement it’s hard to listen to the studio version, although a song for xx ( the song) and powder snow I still happen to really like the Original studio arrangements. I like the live ones more, but for some reason I’m sometimes in the mood for the originals.

Totally agree on the Namie live arrangement stuff. I definitely like them better than the studio versions. It’s such a shame she didn’t continue with the band all the way through. I’m a little sad they didn’t bring back her original band with Kenji Sano, Sheila E, Land Richards, Carlos Rios and the chorus team with Lynn Mabry and Will Wheaton JR for the Finally Tour. That would have been so incredible bc they were awesome and I enjoy the vibe more with the shows she had them than with later shows (especially shows without the band at all)
