I think it does. I still don't know what the title Simple and clean means or refers to. And bringing up 'Stupid Hoe' only reinforces my point actually.

I always thought "Simple and Clean" was a weird title itself.

I mean..."clean"? lol idk. Who even says that. "You make me feel simple and clean".

It's such a blunt, weird statement.

She doesn't have engrish...but she certainly has awkward english. She still reminds me of English-speakers who aren't English or American and aren't used to translating things directly from their language, or understanding terms and phrases that are popular/commonly used.

I think that's the point though. Like "you make me feel so ... at peace. So calm. So, pure." - it's blunt. It's to the point. It may be a "simple" feeling, but in a world as chaotic as today, that just might be what everyone is looking for. Not someone who sweeps you off your feet, and all those other cliche'd terms, but someone who just makes you feel, at rest. Calm, chill. Simple and clean.

That's certainly the type of girl Hikki is.

I agree that "clean" refers to peace, pure, fresh, etc. The title is not weird... The song itself is somehow. It's not about her English, it's more like the content is weird. Maybe because I compare it with Hikari? Hikari itself is already a bit weird but she made it further with the English version...

I can totally understand your point. I used to do that, and it never worked at all. When I tried to use Chinese to construct what I wanna say in English, I ended up putting words in wrong positions. Now I seldom doing that. When I speak English, I try to think in English as well, and the wording flows much better.

But then I create another problem. Nowadays I can't really translate English into Chinese (or vice versa). Like I wanna know a particular term in Chinese, but I just can't come up with a term and I gotta ask my bro for help. Technically, his Chinese is worse than mine because he came here when he was very young. But he can always gimme the answers. I gotta admit that both my English and Chinese are equally bad...

For some reason I have always seen Simple & Clean as a song about "a new beginning" and it's also clearly connected to Kingdom Hearts. Same goes for Sanctuary, which sounds like a sequel song to Simple & Clean, imo.

It's not that it doesn't make sense. It's just that it's weird.

It's not even like it's the opposite of "you make me feel dirty".

To me, it's like, there is no one-word phrase for the idea she wanted to express in English...so she chose "clean"...and yes, it makes sense, because that word has many possible definitions, but it's still awkward.

To be honest, Everytime hikki said 'simple and clean' I thought it ment taking a quick shower. You can't blame me because everytime that song played, the KH characters were in the water.

People just tend to prefer the obvious... Her english lyrics being quirky is what make them so interesting to me in the end of the day

^ I thought that she was being quirky as well. Not really a metaphor, but it gets the point across. I know a few NYers that mix up their words or use a word in a completely different context, I thought that was what she did heh.

I always though Hikki was just being a quirky New Yorker, too. My boyfriend does the same stuff so I though it was just...a NY thing xD
(But I also think Hikki's English lyrics are great, Kremlin Dusk is such a masterpiece)
