its not because someone doesnt like the song that they are automaticly jrock hysteric fangirl.

guys , again no need to bash people who have a opinion different than yours.

i for exemple really liked "free free" or "one " from ami suzuki, it was electro & autotune .i really didnt mind cuz it fit with the song and it fits with her style .

the problem is not with the genre of the song being change (many artists make electro remix and some of them sounds better than the original)

i dont think the problem was being a jrock song turning to electro i just think for that particular song it doesnt fit (at least for me) . i guess maybe if she did turn it into an acoustic song or one of her classical ballad i would have appreciate it more .

I always tend to go look for the original version to see how much the artist changed it.

And I know how hide's family is with his things and memories, so I'm pretty sure that someone of them is happy with the cover, and if it wasn't they won't let her release this song at all.
as for the cover part i agree with you . its very interresting to see how artists adapt them . i loved beni covers albums she done it very tastefully .i also loved miliyah's covers (even though she never made an official cover album a bunch of her songs are actually covers from oldies) and yes most younger generation have never heard those classics so its a good way for them to discover oldies via newer artists .

as for hide family .....at the end of the day its not whether they liked it or not, i think its more about money than anything else.yoshiki did a tribute to hide because he misses him a lot and wanted to pay respect to his memory, i dont think it was offensive or disrespectful ,x japan fans were very happy to see hide as part of the live , lot of people were touched and cryed yet hide's brother sued him ....
people tend to forget that whenever a song is covered by someone else the original artist (or his family in hide's case) get some royalty.

fixed .thanks for note .

i agree with kaled people are scared to say their opinions because they are scared to get bash . just because they dont like a 100 percent of what the artist does it does not make them any less fans . not everyone can like a 100 percent of everything .

again people who come this thread ARE FANS .they want to share different point of views and opinions (thats what make this thread more interresting) and people who dont know her and haven't heard her new albums can get different ideas instead of " oh i love everything and everything is wonderfull " for a 100 pages and make their own opions after listening to it ..

@gothicayu: You totally skewered my words. I didn't call a single person a fangirl. Nor was I bashing anyone. I was asking.

No one is bashing people for having an opinion. Gothicayu, your thoughts were well thought out, and most important, respectful.

That's the key difference. Respect. A few other posters didn't have that...

But, my point isn't if someone can enjoy both rock and electro. You said yourself earlier that you might have had more respect for the cover if it was a ballad. Why can you not respect it because its electro? That's what I'm asking.

Also, I was never specifically talking about J-Rock, just rock in general. Nor was I saying that someone who thinks that rock is a more respectable genre was an hysteric fangirl. You don't have to be a fangirl to feel that way.

Maybe people think that Rock is more respectable because this type of music use real instruments and there are a real work behind but not only Rock also symphonic & classical musics etc... There are a big diffrence between a guy who produces a song without "move a finger" and creates digital musics on her PC and a group of people who produce songs and put a lot of efforts in the choices of the instruments etc...

I didn't say it's the truth but I frequently heard that and I can't deny that is not totally wrong !

I think you're getting it wrong there. A cover is a fail when it's not good, something that can be applied to any song out there. If the cover sounds exactly like the original, what's the problem?

Also saying that the name is about "making songs more appealing" you're implying that the original songs are not appealing. The name of the album is just about the style of the cover + upbeat vibe of the songs, that's not about making bad songs into good songs.

its not like im disrespecting the song im just not enjoying it . it could have been a rock semi acoustic (like she did with ningyo hime during music fair) i would have enjoy it too .a bunch of the songs in this album were ballad so i couldnt care less if she turn that one into a ballad .i didnt absolutly want a ballad for that song it was just an exemple given. i just thought with this particular song an other background music would have been better .i would have really enjoy an acoustic guitar version with just a guitar and kuu voice (like she did for you're so beautiful) but again its just how i imagined the cover .

now why i dont like that song with electro its my taste (and i usually like electro ,this song make an exeption) no matter how much people argure or try to convice me electro was the best choice again ITS PERSONAL. everybody have different taste so i respect everyone .
it was kuu interpretation of the song .some fans love it some fans hate it .thats just how it is .

just like for Jounetsu, i was crazy about the original and totally loved kato miliyah version too (she made it a very emotional and sad song which fit perfectly the lyrics) not a big fan of the kuu jazzy cover (and again like jazzy style songs by shiina ringo )

...... now i feel hardcore/ die hard /i love everything/ kuu fans gonna start throwing rocks at me lol

here is the original for those who are curious to hear the original http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGaDzFS-WZw

hope i explained better my point of view and answered your question more properly

I think it's difficult to make a good song, whatever you play a real guitar or use a computer. There are many rock songs that sounds bad and I could say the same for electro music too. I'm quite open minded though, I can appreciate a rock or electro song if it sounds good for me lol.

Back on topic:

I think Kuu did a great job with Pink Spider, but I listened to the original song and I like hide's version more. In the other hand, I can't stop listening to Kuu's cover because it's really really catchy
My other favorites are Lovely, Jounetsu and One more time, One more chance though.
Overall I like Color the Cover more than her first cover album, also her voice it's so powerful and flawless. The cd covers are one of my favorites now, she's so gorgeous

I would have to severely disagree with that, because I don't think that there is more "real work" behind rock than other genres. People who make digital music still have to play back what they've created and listen to see if the sound is conveying the right emotions. Then, if its incorrect changes must be made. Its all a process.

And, while I do think that playing an instrument does take a lot of time and skill (I played the piano for many years), I've heard many digital artists say that digital music opened up their minds, because the just didn't have the skills to play an instrument. Their teachers thought they had no musical talents, until they were allowed to use digital instruments to convey their feelings and emotions through song.

I guess my issue is that I'm finding people (not just AHS, but everywhere) are generalizing entire genres based on what is on the radio. People discredit rap a lot because all that's played on TV is stuff about booties and alcohol, but there are many phenomenal rap songs if one were to look into the genre.

+1

I hate it when people undermine electronic music or remixing just because a lot of the work is done on the computer. Its probably more tedious to have to sit in front of a computer working on a song than it is to play an instrument.

I'm starting to think people here are biased against anything that uses autotune or anything remotely "dubsteppy." I still remember all the hate from when Party queen came out and everyone was complaining about ayu using dubstep and autotune and when Japonesque came out and everyone was complaining about the autotune. I honestly don't see what the big problem with it is.

Anyway, I actually liked the album a lot. Waaaay better than Eternity. The songs are entertaining, the album flows well, and there is a lot of variety. My picks are Pink Spider, Shake Hip!, Lovely, Dou ni mo Tomaranai, Koyoi no Tsuki no You ni, & Uta wa Waga Inochi.

The one thing I like about kumi kehova's cover album is that it explores various genres.
It's much better than angela Aki's cover album in that respect.
However I think that Angela's is better because she takes the songs and completely makes it her own.
Kumi did that with pink spider for sure and that's why I love it. Made it completely hers by giving it a complete rehaul.
Don't know about the originals of the other songs but I don't really care. I like pink spider and that's that.

I am the slowest person alive when it comes to following multiple asian artists. Just can't keep up.
Listening to Color the Cover, so far I'm at Jounetsu, and so far I'm loving it!

Nail Max gorgeousness

And I don't think that we just bash people in this thread who have a differing opinion. We just don't like when people come in with ******, undeveloped, and rude opinions.

Koda fans know what's up with her more than anyone. We poke fun at her all the time. We know who she is. We know what she does.

I think it's naive to think that a lot of people aren't biased against electro music just because it's electro, but that doesn't mean they all are. I think it's easy to see who is and who isn't though, based on what they say.

It makes me sad these days to see electro music being so put down, because it literally is, the future. Do you see many people developing new instruments? The only way we're going to get new artists with original sounds, is with that electronic and digital media.

Also I think Pink Spider is a perfect example of how an electro pop song can be fun, accessible, and deep. If you need some more, go listen to MAA.

Anyway, Jounetsu has come up to be my favorite non-pink spider track from the album. I just LOVE that style on her right now. It's perfect.

Having different opinions is fine. You can even say it's your least liked song in the world. But you have to say that YOU don't like it. It doesn't suit YOUR tastes. When you start talking as if THE SONG itself is bad and anyone who does like it has bad taste, then we're gonna get angry.

Personally I'm not a big fan of Kuu's ballads, aside from her R&B ones. So I'll either shut up about it or stick to saying "This isn't my cup of tea. I'll wait for her to release something I'll like better."

I usually don't really care for that style, but it suits her voice so great that I'm loving it too. Especially the ad-libs at the end
