How disappointing... This was a bit hyped by Ayu's team (right?) prior to release and I was hoping there was some deal about it.

In other news, A ONE is officially my favorite record of the year so far. Its just nice to be able to turn to a decent album when I'm surrounded by so much trash on the radio here.

Nah, it wasn't hyped by the Ayu team... She just said people would understand the title once they listened to the album. The fandom did the hype part themselves...

This happens from times to times... Someone asks her something that she can't really answer (like explaining the whole concept of a release, as it limit the way people can understand it themselves, making the overall release less relatable and less powerful) she gives a vague, diplomatic answer, people let imagination go wild, some theory get more popular than the others, everyone starts acting like that was official and when things go on a different way the meltdown starts.

Ran through here with the usual mop and bucket... let's keep discussions mature and respectful. Don't get dragged down to someone else's level if the topic steers that way.

Also, an obligatory reminder that topics not about the Oricon sales for A ONE should be redirected to their own discussion thread if possible, just so people coming in here to keep updated on her sales can easily find the actual discussion.

I couldn't remember if it was Ayu's team that hyped it or us here on the forum. I still didn't really get the idea of it. It's not like you can hear influences from the very early part of her career, or that she wrote a bunch of songs about us all being united, or that she wrote nothing but songs about loneliness. It's not a very typical Ayu record either. So, I'm a little clueless as to what A ONE means, other than to say that this may be her settling into a specific sound again for awhile.

Still surprised at the sales for A ONE. This must be a very well received album to have done so well market-wise.

And STILL with A BEST... I wonder if Ayu is happy about it or if she's still silently cringing because she didn't want A BEST to be released the way it was... Silly. DAE know if A BEST 2 is selling as well?

I'm still pessimistic of it to outsell Colours... unless it keeps selling 1k for the next 6 weeks?

A ONE is out of top 50 today

recochoku must LOVE ayu lol.
Well even though it succeeds digitally there more than all of the albums on recocohku it's still probably just a few 10s a day, in total it already should be high, I wish they would publish numbers lol. recochoku is not the only digital outlet for music in Japan though.
There are at least iTunes, LISMO, dwango.jp and Music.jp, (mu-mo for avex) that I know about. Must be more.

But it's not millions of people downloading A BEST on recochoku, unfortunately, sure wish there would be.
It's still amazing that it slays all other existing albums there.

I don't think A ONE has an exceptional success or anything, it sells decently for ayu's status, it's just more consistent than usual.

It's cool that fans buy it when they know there is an upcoming mini album to buy as well haha.

OMG I'M SO HAPPY this is doing so so so well. what if it outsells colour. this'd mean she's gaining popularity again.

Unortunately there's no chance it will outsell Colours, and even if it would I don't think it would mean an entire popularity increase, just a few more people interested.

It is quite good that it's consistent.

yeah i agree, i'd think about it like this is that kinda type ayu-album fans would buy over Colours more than she has gained more fans but if she did, i wouldn't complain at all

I don't think it can outsell Colours, but 50k now is more than likely, just a couple of weeks more

I have been listening to WARNING a lot lately. Man that song is good, it really has grown on me! Do you think that if this album were released during ayu's peak, or shortly after, it would have sold really well? Like say if this was her 10th anniversary album instead of GUILTY?
