Basically there are some kinds of compilation albums.
There are the single bests/greatest hits/BESTs which have songs from singles or best hits and are put together along with a new song or something like kumi's BEST ~first things~, ayu's A BEST.

And there are the CONCEPT compilations which imo shouldn't be called BEST like ayu's A BALLADS and kumi's BEST ~B&L~.

kumi's BEST ~ss~ is a single/greatest hits best like FT and there are songs that won't be features again in a compilation album unless if it's a concept album, that's why they called it BEST ~ss~ they just put the 12 singles together with some new songs and that's all with that project, if they won't be in another concept "best" they won't be in any compilation anymore. that's why it's not a studio album either.

But I agree with Bondingo and Demure_dusk. I have noticed that the material on bests varies from artist to artist, but generally most artist will choose singles as the majority of songs, and some will be an all singles collection (which makes sense, considering singles are generally an artist's most well known songs).

But seriously, would it kill avex to try and think of an original name for an album? I'm guessing when they market they'll trying hardest for the casual listeners, because chances are the die-hard fans would already know about it and have a lot of the songs, and label it as a Best seems like a tacky way to sell IMO.

Although it would be cool to have some of her previously unreleased material. I wonder if they'll make a PV for Get it On...

Isn't a concept album when you try something new and extreme, like a concept car?

I think a true concept album would be like Hitomi Shimatani's Crossover which was in fact promoted as a concept album.

Greatest hits/BEST of/Compilation: There all the same thing but with different titles or whatever. Why are we still on this subject? I and two others gave an accurate definition of a BEST!

Please, can we move on? I'm not tryin' to sound mean or anything but this is boring and we've been over this like 10x already? Jeez, this thread is starting to turn into a freakin' Ayu thread...no offence!

Okay, I'm sort starting to get into Kumi more lately. I mean, her Kingdom album is way better than Black Cherry and this and that. Since you guys think that she's an awesome performer, I was wondering what Tour DVD is best for me to watch first. I haven't heard majority of her songs....so, I want to watch the TOUR DVD that gives her best vocal performance as well.

Any recommendations?

^ i agree, i do think that Kuu seems to be one of the most sincere artists i've seen...she definitely cares, she made a mistake, i just hope the Japanese realize that it was a mistake and hopefully forgive her in the near future.

I wonder if the Japanese people will go even crazier once she apologizes? I know when Ayu's news of her left ear being deaf came out, some people thought that was a publicity stunt (which it obviously isn't) and didn't quite believe it. I wonder if that's how the Japanese people will react to Kuu's apology - as just a publicity stunt to try to get her advertisements and promotions back...
