^in modern places, sure, however there are tribes that live in those areas that solely survive on hunting. There are places where people use every bit of the animal, nothing gets wasted. I personally don't see a problem with that. The only thing that bugs me is when celebrities wear it because it's fancy. Same goes for Ayu. Why the fuck do you wear a bloody summer dress and a fancy fur coat on top all flailing around? Where's the logic?
It can get up to -20C here in winter and you would rarely see a person wearing a fur coat. because the synthetic stuff is way more affordable and does the job just as well.
Fur industry is a nasty subject. There's so much cruelty in it and so much waste, for the "purpose" of someone looking fancy, that i just think it should be illegal. And none of the famous brands would "degrade" themselves to using faux fur in their collections. And Ayu isn't someone who would spend money on cheap stuff that's fake.

^I agree with that. Tribes which rely on hunting and just use every bit of the animal are something different. Since they have nothing to do with the fur industry at all I was focusing on people buying fur just because it's fancy.

I think I read on a thread on here from a while back that her foxtail from the early noughties was fake, I wonder if she had different views on the subject back then? (given if the poster was correct?)

It is interesting, I do agree that our idols aren't perfect and we cannot expect them to be, but fur is one of those (albeit hypocritical as some people continue to purchase leather as fluffy animals = cute/we can't hurt them! and domestic/farm animals = don't care/not cute/cognitive dissonance/not cruel if slaughtered 'humanely') political stances that is very easy for a public figure to implement, so I find it particularly interesting that Ayu wears fur.

And you don't need to be a polar researcher to by clothing like this. At least my Russian friend, who actually told me all of this, was just going into a store for outdoor clothing and bought a very warm jacket which she uses when she visits her family in Russia.
I have no idea if you can by clothing like this in Russia as easily as here though, have to ask her. So if it's hard to buy an alternative or this alternative is too expensive for people with a normal income, I won't blame them ever.
But from what my friend told me who's family in Russia is a rich one, they simply want to wear fur because a nice fur coat is a status symbol. I blame people like this because this is simply ignorant.

That sounds like a pretty cool and advanced coat!

And I agree, it's a shame that people do this. In my opinion, it's tacky on many levels. At the same time, if I see someone wearing fur, it doesn't really faze me too much, but when I stop and think about it, it does make me pretty sad.

Well, Ayu has the money and she's free to do whatever she pleases with it. I'm fine with fur being worn, it's not a big deal to me.

Fake fur is usually made in cheap child labor factories and contains material that takes 1000's of years to break down, let alone toxins produced while making it are inhaled by the workers.

Because fake fur tends to be cheap, people tend to discard it faster, meaning, like plastic bags, they'll stay in landfills for years and years. Upon keeping it and washing it, it then releases said material into water sources and into the sediment and water dwelling animals could ingest it.

The fur argument is a double edged sword. One damages the environment. One kills animals.

So tbh the best alternative would be to just not utilize either.

Also, it's common that clothing labels will lie about just how fake the fur is. Sometimes it's completely real, or it contains real fur mixed in. (To be fair though, sometimes the companies might not actually know, because the fur is almost always being sourced from outside the country.)

I have to say, looking back, I love the cover to "&." I think there's something almost corny about it (the lighting or something, IDK...) but she just looks so free and genuinely happy. I've been really contemplating the lyrics of Ourselves and how I think the cover of & suits those lyrics so well, conceptually. I feel like it really does convey a feeling of openness and confidence she seeks in the person she's addressing in Ourselves.

I hope she does more Ivy, Sweet scar type songs along with more EDM inspired things after MCM and MOWY. She always has her ballads but she used to create trends and turn them into her own before and I'd like to see a more "Trendy" album that appeals to what's selling today after everything else she's done.

I just opened Last minute in VLC player and lowered the speed to the very minimum. This was an... interesting experience. Especially her vibratos.
