i do hope ayu will reach 1 million copies within 1/2 yr ...

even though we should not say an artist is famous or not just base on her sales number .. it's still a nice thing to see her reaching 1m mark.

I'm sure though that Overseas sales have already exceeded one million. Heck maybe 2 already. Its hot in Taiwan right?

Yup, hit number 1 in Taiwan too. But the market is considerably smaller (Japan is a really big market really), so I wouldn't expect overseas sales to have reached a million already. But should be close!

it probbaly has reached over a million averseas version, cuz overseas version is also HK, singapore and more

Isnt that the sales in japan? However, if it is indeed worldwide excluding Japan, then Miss Understood sold 1.6 million already ne?

^Looks like Japanese sales figures to me too.

The asian market combined together would probably equal that of Japan only. You have to remember that Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore combined together don't even have half of Japan's population!

To put things in perspective, selling 50000 copies of something is already almost impossible in Singapore. Whereas (m)u sold 650000+ in it's opening week.

And you guys can forget about China too, bootlegging is just out of control there.

nope. the sales for japan are about 817k. personally, i wouldnt trust this source cos theres very few (if not none) official sales trackers outside of japan/korea

Not to mention Malaysia. The Gold/Platinum certifications are extremely low. 7500 copies of an album warranats a gold certification from Singapore whereas 15000 makes the cut for Malaysia. Chicken feed compared to countries like the US (500000). I think RIAA certifications are based on the number of citizens in a country or the music industry's success in the country. I dunno but would be thankful if someone would shed more light on this..

Yes, (Miss)Understood sold A LOT in its first week. It exceeded Madonna's new album (300000+) and Shakira's album (150000) but technically its 2 weeks. However, if it did sell 450000 in its first week, that is still an amazing amount.

The problem is sales drop drastically in following weeks for Japanese CDs. (Miss)Understood dropped by 700% possibly? 650000 to 80000 copies for the second week...

the 650,000 number is for the COMBINED 1st AND 2nd weeks. the 80,000 number is for the THIRD week

2 MILLION COPIES? Obviously not! I mean, Taiwan is not a big market at all and she's selling well in other asian markets, but not enough to sell a million. Plus, if we counted Overseas Sales, this album would probably be behind My Story with overseas sales total in the same week.

Plus, it's not true the album sold 400k in the first week. We aren't sure. But I saw LOTS of chart sites saying the album sold less than 250k in it's first week and I think it sold more in the second week, I don't know how reliable this information is, but it was in LOTS of websites with, usually, reliable information. If I find the number, I'll post here later
