not really, she doesnt say "oh, hes ugly! he should look better!" because hes the CEO of avex(CEOs are allowed to be ugly), but because he seems to appear in every single pic of a big artists birthday, and if you look...like Max...you should NOT try to be photogenic xD

While I'm happy for the accomplishments Max made, really more credit would go to Tetsuya Komuro for "building" Avex. Namie came to fame just fine without Max. As far as I can tell Max really didn't become important until after Ayu hit it big.

This is correct, Tetsuya Komuro is the one who made Namie big-- Max Matsuura has absolutely nothing to do with it (not to be mean but people, please do research and get your facts straight). Also, I remember reading around the time of last year's a-nation that Namie helped build the foundation for the current Avex.
