September 19 becomes 'Arashi Day' in Hawaii

On September 19 and 20, Arashi held their 15th anniversary live on the island of Oahu in Hawaii.

Hawaii is a special place for the members as they held their debut press conference on the cruiser off the coast of Honolulu back on September 15, 1999. The 2-day live was held outdoors attracting about 30,000 people in total.

Half of the concert tickets were designated for fan club members, sold as a part of a tour package which ranged from 200,000 to 500,000 yen ($1836 to $4594). The rest were available for local fans, as well as fans living in the United States and Canada.

The members arrived at the venue, which was made just for the concert, via helicopter. They performed a total of 30 songs tracing their 15-year career. Besides the performance itself, the members entertained fans with various video clips and MC segments.

To commemorate the occasion, the state of Hawaii announced that they have established September 19 as 'ARASHI DAY'.

Japanese News Segment On Arashi's Concert In Hawaii

The segment features footage of the concert, including Arashi’s grand entrance in a helicopter. The group opened the concert with their infamous debut song, “Arashi.” The segment also featured a comparison between the video of their debut in Hawaii and their recent interview during their time in Hawaii.

Also, according to the segment, September 19th will from now on be known as Arashi Day in Hawaii.

NHK to broadcast Arashi's documentary in November

Arashi's documentary program 'Arashi LIVE & DOCUMENT ~15-nenme no Kokuhaku~' will broadcast via NHK Sougou on November 7 at 10:00 pm.

To commemorate their 15th anniversary, Arashi returned to the place of their debut in Hawaii and held a two-day concert titled 'ARASHI BLAST in Hawaii' on September 19 and 20. The documentary will feature footage from the live itself as well as behind-the-scenes footage. Fans will be able to see rehearsals not going as planned due to the rain, accidents that happened during the live, and the reason why the members shed tears during the encore.

To go with the theme "15-nenme no Kokuhaku" ("confessions of the 15th year"), the program will also feature a discussion among the five members. They will talk about their Hawaii concerts, the past 15 years, and what's to come.

Furthermore, leader Ohno Satoshi will reveal his journal for the very first time on the program. It includes notes that none of the members know about as well as episodes that were unknown for the past 15 years.

I absolutely love "THE DIGITALIAN" covers & tracklist!

I love both covers of the album, they're totally awesome! I love the CD only cover even more now that I see it in a bigger size. Arashi are looking very good! The tracklist is pretty nice, as well. I really like all the titles for the album tracks, especially "Hope in the darkness", "STAY GOLD" (of course, I love Matsujun's solo title! ), "Disco Star" (totally fitting for Aiba! ), and "TRAP" (sounds like it'll be a hot song! ). I totally can't wait to watch the PV for "Zero-G".

I'm so incredibly excited for this album now! I totally can't wait!

Arashi previews "Zero-G" and reveals details from upcoming album THE DIGITALIAN

Arashi will be releasing their new album “THE DIGITALIAN” on October 22. With a few days away from release, the album’s lead song, Zero-G was previewed in their radio program. Member Ohno Satoshi choreographed for the song and this will be the first time his choreography will make it to a music video as Zero-G will be released with a PV. The group will then embark on a 5- Dome Tour from November to December.

Album details have also been released. It will include member solo songs, and eight new songs including lead song Zero-G. Their new album features several songs written by group members. Sakurai Sho wrote the lyrics for three tracks including his solo song Hey Yeah! and the Regular Edition’s bonus track Take Off!!!!!. Ninomiya Kazunari also wrote, composed, and arranged for his solo track Merry Christmas.

The album will be available in 2 versions.

Arashi and actress Yoshitaka Yuriko announced as this year’s Kohaku hosts

For this year’s ’65th NHK Kohaku Singing Contest’ the host for the red team has been announced to be actress Yuriko Yoshitaka and for the white team, idol group Arashi has been chosen as hosta for the 5th time in a row. The mediator will be television announcer Yumiko Udo.

‘Kohaku Uta Gassen’ or just ‘Kohaku’ is a yearly singing contest where the white team who are all male artists compete against the red team who are comprised of female artists. For a lot of artists it is prestigious to be chosen to perform on the show.

It is Yuriko’s first time as a host and she said nervously “I still have not grasped the situation. It is still two months away but I want to try my best to control things.” Also, looking at Arashi she smiled, “I never thought we would ever stand together on anything other than a variety show.”

Arashi’s Masaki Aiba spoke saying ‘I never even thought in my dreams that we could be hosts for 5 years in a row. I am happy.”

This year’s theme is ‘Let’s sing. Everyone join in on New Years Eve!’

The broadcast will be from 7:15 pm to 11:45 pm, and it will bring the year to a close with representative singers from Japan giving a hot performance.

Yoshitaka Yuriko and Arashi to host this year's 'Kohaku Uta Gassen'

On October 10, NHK made an official announcement that actress Yoshitaka Yuriko and popular group Arashi will host 'The 65th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen'. Arashi will host the white team for the 5th consecutive year, while Yoshitaka will make her debut as the host for the red team. In addition, announcer Udo Yumiko will be the general host.

Yoshitaka played the lead in this year's NHK morning drama 'Hanako to Anne'. Throughout the 156 episodes, it had an average viewer rating of 22.6%, the highest among any morning drama in the past 10 years. In her best condition yet, will she be able to lead the red team to victory?

The actress initially showed a nervous expression stating, "I haven't grasped the situation..." during a press conference held during that day, but she went on to say, "Although this is in 2 months, I will do my best to adjust to it." Then, she looked over at Arashi and said with a smile, "I didn't think I would get to stand next to them in anything other than variety programs, so I want them to pull me through."

Arashi, who has become the first to host the program for 5 consecutive years, will once again be in charge of the white team. Member Aiba Masaki commented, "I've never imagined that we would host for 5 years in a row. I am happy."

This year's theme is "Utaou. Oomisoka wa Zenin Saka de!" which translates to "Let's sing. Everyone participate on New Year's Eve!" The show will broadcast for 4.5 hours from 7:15 pm to 11:45 pm. Until now, the win-loss record between the red team and the white team is 29 to 35.
