Actually. If we combined all asian music markets with japan, I don't think they can be bigger than japan. Because japan is the second largest music market in the world and the largest music market outside America. As far as I know, there are more than 2800 music stores in japan and USA has like 7000 stores. MY STORY has been certified triple platinum worldwide and I think it's probably true because she is extremely famous outside japan. Even in USA she is pretty popular there. So it's not possible to sell more than 3 million copies worldwide.

Because Japan is a smaller market, platinum status I think is 300,000 copies.

^ I think that is for singles.. We can check Wiki though. It is said that Japan is a smaller market, but albums sell so much more in the first week than the US. Except that Japanese albums dont always sell more than 5 million, unlike US ones. (Gwen, Kelly Clarkson, Coldplay, bla bla)

New releases and all push the album down. Give it some time and it might pop back up.

^yup, consider at least 10 artists released albums today, it's bound to be pushed off the chart. Even Koda's best~first thing~ went down to 15. It will bounce back up.

I'm not sure if i've got the wrong end of the stick of what you're saying, anime_fanatic21, but if she released STEP you/is this love? as the last single before (m)u, it would boost (m)u sales but it would probably at least half the sales for STEP you/is this love? and ayu would face a bit of criticism from the media saying that her single sales this year have been low, regardless of how good (m)u is doing. I mean, it's ayu, of course her albums are all eventually gonna hit 1 million.

I know that's not really important but it's just a thought.

well if it was released as the last single, i dont think it will sell 'half' the current sales. it would probably just reach 300k+, but just not as high as it currently is.
imo, she should've just stopped at HEAVEN. no B&D/Pride single. and also, no B&D as lead song for (m)u

No, it would probably be hard to even reach 200 000.. She did it with Forgiveness, quality song bad timing. Albums usually sap the sales of singles.
