Here is the Planet Chart ranking... no sales numbers, but they count CD+DVD and CD edition as different products. I guess we could assume that CD+DVD edition sold ~75k and CD edition around ~35k [Altough if i remember correctly Planet Chart numbers were usually slightly lower...]

ummmmm.... congratulations on ayu for being no.1 and I dont think ayu herself think very much about the number, music nowadays is in a big big big big decline in sales.... but dont get me wrong, glitter is good, fated is good also.... >.< but I think you know, for some people glitter is such a mediocre, repetitive song... I mean... compare it to the fairyland & Blue bird, it does not have any big differences, I mean... its another summer-mello-bubble-pop >.<
but we have to appreciate every other opinion...  thats the way ayu are now, we have to accept it because we are only her fans, not her teacher or business-consultant... As long ayu comfortable with those sings, we just can be happy and gladly received her with open arms & open hearted...I know, some of you might want ayu getting back to the spotlight (no.1) stealing the headline and something like she used to do, but over the course of time, people have the ups and downs, I mean, thats the fact, koda or any other artists are more shining than her, but just like her songs in the secret album, she says the she doesnt care with what people say about her because right now for ayu, all of she has to do is proud of herselves.... Whatever she do, the public praise her Just imagine, how come if glitter is sung by other artist, then I will surely doubt that his/her single will sell as well as ayu... right now, just accept the fact hehehehehehe ^^ peace! no fight please, this place is used to be a peaceful site ..

Well I think the PV for glitter was kind of a turn off XD I wouldve just made them 2 seperate PVs. Im not saying the movie was bad, but it didnt really promote glitter as a song. I also think that they shouldve used a japanese actor instead of a hong kong one so more people in japan will be drawn to it. But hey thats just my opinion XD At least ayu still hit number one and barely dropped in the 2nd week =D

Well, This single has a big promotion, a 18 min. movie, considerable tv appearences, a lot of cover magazines and publicity with her recent break-up. It has more promotion than Startin'. The early leak might be the problem.

Well Startin' was in a PS2 game and Born To Be... was in the Winter Olympic games ending on TV which I think is more than a kiwi cm and movies tie-ins by a bit...

Hmmm, this is following the same path that FREAKY did...that single was also #5 the second day of the second week. Well, I think Ayu is still doing fairly well and hopefully she doesn't drop out of the Top 10 too soon.

Soundscan numbers!
#1 83,186 PORNO GRAFFITI - Link #2 80,526 Ayumi Hamasaki - glitter/fated (CD+DVD) #3 53,359 ORANGE RANGE - Ikenai Taiyou (first press) #4 26,934 Acid Black Cherry - SPELL MAGIC #5 24,931 Ayumi Hamasaki - glitter/fated (CD-only) So that's a total of 105,457 for glitter/fated. According to Soundscan, FREAKY's opening week was 84,313 + 22,788 = 107,101. I'm not 100% sure, but wouldn't Soundscan numbers be more accurate than Oricon ones? I mean... doesn't Soundscan track down every single purchase while Oricon just gets sales reports from a certain amount of shops and then just multiplies it or something o_o? (And to minimize confusion, I'm not talking about the 1.7 indicator.)
