Her head is in a very, very awkward position there. She should've lifted it more.

This angle makes her look fat and old, which is like the complete opposite of what she really is: slim and youthful.

eh~~ a lot of the old pics are sooo unflattering. i really dont think younger ayu took the most amazing pics tbh. ayu had a lovely way of overaging herself back at sometimes

waaah??!! i loved the panasonic photos. i love that hair and her look there. its just to pretty as opposed to super ugly.

i love this thread. ayu looks weird all the time when u take screencaps from her performances.

horrible. very 80s. showing her bottom teeth as always. staring into the camera. about as creative as a first year college freshman's very first project. overly simplified background. I could have done the gradient myself in MS Paint. The second cover looks like a monkey. If I ever got the second cover in poster form, I'd so trash it.

For me, it wasn't bad, it just looks so natural and juvenile.

I don't think the covers are really that bad...I've seen worse.
A BEST 2 for instance...those are some pretty bad covers.

I think her expressions are a bigger issue than the background/gradient/etc.

THIS does though lol.. she looks so spaced out. I don't understand why for most magazine shoots, they pick the worst pics out of the shoots for the covers.

I love that mag cover though, looking at it for some time now. I know what it feels like to make that facial expression. I do it a lot in person apparently
And its quite simple and natural in feel. Instead of a gaudy pose. That look of hers. Without emotion is such a beautiful look in itself.
She looks as if her soul has been taken out of her. But this beautiful body with a lovely face still exists.

Its hard to explain. My deeper thoughts don't come out right it seems
