Tackey to play ten historical heroes in upcoming stage show

Hideaki Takizawa is about to become a walking and talking history textbook as he plays famours warriors, leaders, and rebels in his upcoming stage show, it was revealed at a press conference in Tokyo on February 3, reports Sports Hochi, and Chunichi Sports.

It had been announced Takizawa would produce his upcoming stage show “滝沢歌舞伎 (Takizawa Kabuki)”, and play a series of historical Japanese figures including Minamoto no Yoshitsune, Nobunaga Oda, and Shiro Amakusa.

“I want younger people to get interested in history. I learnt the value of Japanese legends after working on a Taiga drama myself,” Takizawa said.

The show has been split into two parts with the first focussing on the 10 historical figures, followed by a second part where Takizawa reprises his show from last year, playing Taira no Masakado.

It has been reported the pop star will fill his show with large-scale special effects such as wire action, and is even planning on slipping in a historical woman character as one of the 10 heroes.

On top of his busy acting challenge, it will be the second time Takizawa has produced this show following his producer debut in 2010.

“(At last year’s show) I struggled because I hardly had any time for my own rehearsals. But it felt like a part of me was always on stage, even if I wasn’t in the scene. It also gave me the chance to see things from an audience’s point-of-view which helped me when I was trying to think of things that would make the fans happier,” he said.

It has also been reported the second part to the show will be different from last year.

“I got a lot of requests from fans saying they wanted to see a more evil me so I’m going to try and be as evil and scary as I can,” Takizawa said.

Of course, bloody scenes will not continue throughout the entire season becayse the star had revealed plans for the show’s second part to be replaced with a children’s show during the May public holiday season. It has been reported Takizawa had said he wanted to reprise his children’s hero role, TAKI-ranger, at this year’s show as well.

“Takizawa Kabuki” will be performed at Tokyo’s Nissay Theatre from April 8 to May 8.

Ori Star unveils results for their poll, “What’s your favorite song by your favorite artist?”

Weekly entertainment magazine Ori Star recently announced the results of its latest survey, asking for their fans’ favorite song by their favorite artist.

Arashi top’s track was “Monster”, the theme song to the drama “Kaibutsu-Kun” which stars member Ohno Satoshi. When asked why they chose this song, one fan replied, “I can’t help but love the impact of the song and their cool dancing.” To round off the top three tracks for Arashi, ”Monster” was followed by “truth” and “Troublemaker”.

Other favorites include Ikimonogakari’s hit song “Arigatou”, which earned three times the number of votes as their debut song, “SAKURA”. Tohoshinki’s first song as a two-member unit, “Why? (Keep Your Head Down)”, also ranked highly on the list.

thank you karen! they are all very nice! but like you, i also think CD+DVD and CD limited are the best! what a nice setting to shoot a cover! tackey looks great as always, but i can't tell if tsubasa grew a mustache or not, LOL. i prefer him clean shaven. he looks much better!

KinKi Kids’ Domoto Tsuyoshi to release new single in April

Domoto Tsuyoshi of Johnny’s group KinKi Kids will release his new single, “Eni wo Yuite,” on April 6!

This will mark his first single since the release of his last project, “RAIN,” which was released almost a year and a half ago, “Eni wo Yuite” was created around theme of “beautifying Japan,” beginning with Tsuyoshi’s hometown of Nara. The track, recorded at shrines believed to have connections to Nara’s entertainment and music industries, is a love song to Japan.

Three versions will be released: limited editions A and B, and a regular edition. Limited Edition A will include a music clip of “Eni wo Yuite” on DVD, while Limited Edition B will include an “Eni wo Yuite” making-of DVD (subject to change). The regular edition will feature two extra songs not included in the limited editions.

Moreover, inside all three versions is an ID code that fans can use to enter into a special drawing. The winners of the drawing will be invited to visit the actual site where Tsuyoshi creates his music!

V6′s Morita Go to perform his play “Kinkakuji” in New York

V6 member Morita Go (32) will be performing a play in New York this July. His play “Kinkakuji,” directed by Miyamoto Amon, has been invited to the Lincoln Center Festival, which brings together artists and productions from over 50 different countries. “Kinkakuji” will be the only production representing Japan at the festival.

The play is an adaptation of Mishima Yukio’s novel of the same name, also known by the English title “The Temple of the Golden Pavilion.” It began performances in Yokohama this past January and will finish its nationwide tour on March 13.

During the Lincoln Center Festival, “Kinkakuji” will be performed four times, between July 21 and 24.

Imai Tsubasa wants to act with Penelope Cruz and teach Tackey Spanish

On March 8th, Tackey & Tsubasa’s Imai Tsubasa (29) attended a press conference for the upcoming NHK Spanish program “Terebi de Spain-go“, for which he is the navigator. This is the first time a talent from Johnny & Associates will appear on a foreign language educational program.

Imai commented, “I want to appear in a Spanish film one day and co-star with Penelope Cruz.” When asked what kind of role he would like to play, he replied, “If I’m greedy, I’d say the role of her lover. But I think the entire world would tell me ‘that’s unrealistic’, so anything from her son to her neighbor.”

Imai also had plans to use his experience from the show within his group, stating, “My partner Takizawa (Hideaki) is a pro wrestling fan and has an interest in Mexico, so I’m going to slowly teach him Spanish so that we can aim to become Johnny’s first Spanish-speaking group.”

“Terebi de Spain-go” will start its weekly broadcast on March 31st.

Jikan Ryoko (PV & song) is amazing! tackey & tsubasa are so adorable! i love how they went to new york & they even mentioned brooklyn! they rode on the brooklyn bridge, i think. but anyway, the animation is so cute, too!

Yamanotesen Sotomawari (PV & song) is also amazing! the PV is the BEST! i loved the dancing & the train setting is perfect. the song's really stuck in my head now.

i really love these two songs, so i hope the full mini-album is great as well!

btw, tackey is looking extremely HOT....

Domoto Koichi cancels stage performance + sends guests off with a handshake

KinKi Kids‘ Domoto Koichi (32) had been performing at Imperial Garden Theater in Marunouchi, Tokyo until the earthquake hit last week. Understandably, both the afternoon and evening performances of his show, “Endless SHOCK“, were cancelled again on March 13th.

The staff had been preparing for the show to be re-opened that day, but with the continuing aftershocks and the uncertainty about the stage’s safety level, the shows were canceled 30 minutes before the afternoon performance.

Since over 1,800 people had come to the Imperial Garden Theater that day, Koichi himself gave the announcement from the stage. “I must regretfully announce that today’s show is canceled. I am truly sorry”, he apologized. He then confessed, “At such a time as this, I want to find something that I can do to help”, and sent off each guest one at a time with a handshake.

TOKIO concerts postponed

TOKIO have postponed three of their concerts, it was revealed on the official Johnny’s website, reports Nikkan Sports and Daily Sports Online.

The group have postponed their March 13 concert in Shimane prefecture, March 14 concert in Hiroshima, and March 15 concert in Aichi prefecture.

It has been reported because the group’s members were part of Johnny’s charity group J-FRIENDS, which was set up to help victims of the Kobe earthquake in 1995, the latest delay had been decided out of consideration for their fans who attended the Sendai and Morioka concerts.

A week ago we just had a concert in Miyagi and Iwate and now the situation that faces those who came to the concert really makes us worry.

When the earthquake happened, there were also some members who were doing work in the Tohoku region.

The tremors were so strong and we can’t help but feel anxious for those who are living in that situation right now.

We’ve had “THE! TETSUWAN! DASH!!” solar car on location along the Pacific Ocean there countless times.

Everyone on location is always so kind and we’ve developed a strong connection with the people there.

Let’s all take each others’ hands together, let’s encourage one another and do what we can now. It’s the only way we can face this situation.

Turn off a light in a room, unplug things from outlets you aren’t using, don’t use water you don’t need,,,

They may be small things, but if everyone participates then it can absolutely be helpful.

Our hearts ache naturally for the victims, but also for their families, relatives and friends; when we think about how they must be feeling.

We have so many thoughts, but we mostly just wish for an environment where the people affected by the damage can be rescued, the goods can reach that area and confirmation of peoples’ safety is happening.

We heard that fans were concerned for our safety, but we’re all fine.

We have to conserve electricity and water and we need to only use phones in the case of an emergency. I think that’s all we can do, even though it’s small it’s something we can do.

Not counting the areas struck by the disaster, I feel there is still more we can do.

Rumour of charity single + lives

Reborn J-FRIENDS unit has been decided

On the 17th, as a part of the charity activities for the "The Great Northeastern Pacific Ocean Earthquake" that took place on the 11th of the same month, the major company Johnny's Jimusho annouced the formation of reborn "J-FRIENDS".

J-FRIENDS conducted charity activities at the time of the "Hanshin-Awaji Great Earthquake" that happened in 1995.

This time, the members begin with national idols Arashi, and are mainly composed of young talents NEWS, KAT-TUN and so forth.

On the 25th of May, a charity single will be on sale, and lives are scheduled to be performed in Tokyo dome, Osaka dome, and Nagoya dome at the beginning of June.

All the earnings will be donated to the stricken area.
