I think DEEP RIVER has the best pictures (even with the foot lol). When the cover was revealed I was blown away (well.. probly because the last album cover was so meeh.. ).

Utada Hikaru isn't one to care about her image, ne? It seems obvious to me from the majority of her covers, except for - as someone pointed out - ULTRA BLUE. I guess she's proof covers are not what matter most lol.

I think the only covers that have nothing to do with the album theme are First Love and Distance. The hikki on the First Love cover radiated "hey I'm young but I'm talent" aura. In Distance... it totally has nothing to do with the theme at all. DR was the first serious cover she made. It's really haunting, and it matched the atmosphere of the album. UB's cover is great because she used RED to emphasize BLUE. That is quite magic. HS cover showed the general aura of the album: soothing and peaceful, yet it brings you to the silence of death world... (Take 5? ).

Doesn't she seem like one who would like, come up with a whole concept theme for each album? Just like the singles collection I guess lol


Honestly, sometimes I don't really know if hikki actually cares about being a professional entertainer. Like, having to release stuff, and appear here, and there, and do this and that.

Sometimes I feel like, she just makes her songs, and her label keeps up on it, and whenever she's made enough, they make an album hahaha

but that's most likely not how it goes ;P

^ I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case. She doesn't seem to have that desire to entertain others. I'm pretty sure she'd be satisfied just making music and that's it. But if that were the case, why not be a composer or anonymous like GReeeeeN?

no i dont know, she'd be a fantastic composer. Her songs are always like, not catchy, though many of them are, but they're just, memorable, but not in any cliche ways.

Same thing happened with A BEST...

I always kind of wondered how that worked. Is it in her contract or something? How does making a best album for two albums even make sense?

^Ayu never told people not to buy A-best though and still sold a crapload. She only said it was too early or something. Utada's flat out saying this is wrong, its not her decision, and to not buy it.

This makes me kind of sad....I want to buy it cause I want to complete my collection.....but I probably won't if she doesn't want her fans to buy it.

I'm glad to read that. Shows she's not the moneygrabbing ***** some people at other forums were pretending she was.

If people want to buy it because they don't have any English albums or just to complete their collection, then sure, go ahead, but just know that it's not "to support here".

It'd be awesome though if her Singles Collection vol. 2 did amazingly and that the other one bombs : D

I was talking about how the companies are forcing releases artists don't want. Either way it's the same.

She tweeted (in Japanese) that she'll talk more about the whole 'Utada The Best' thing later.

It must suck to have put your energy into creating the music and then have it misused like that.
