Thanks for the upload. The T-Pain part in VIP is terrible. It's hardly even a verse, think I'll switch it out for the single version.
Apart from that, sounds good so far!

What i think of each track..
![]() Introduction: Beautiful, great way to start off the album. So Nice: My new JUICY tbh, the chorus is SEX! Gives me Pussycat Dolls & Britney Blackout era vibes with the heavy breathing. Boom Boom Boys: One of my favorite tracks on the album, while i'm not all that fond on the bridge i adore everything else. Slow: Another amazing track, very Chris Brown “Forever/With You” Brave: Really stunning, it reminds me a lot of Namie’s All For You (properly cause it’s like any other jpop winter’ish ballad, but beautiful nonetheless) Everyday: Cutesy song at it’s best <3 Make’s me in such a happy mood, especially the Chorus. Interlude: EPIC ESCALATE: The new POP DIVA no doubt, while i liked it a lot from the preview i thought it missed that extra something that PD had. But after hearing the chorus i can't imagine it any better, BANGER! No Man's Land: Really amazing, and one of the best produced tracks on the album tbh. It reminds me of something Kelly Clarkson or Evanescence would release. Lay Down: Best song on the album, and i'm not gonna let anyone tell me otherwise. Driving can GTFO, this is FLAWLESS MUSIC. Love Technique: Wow.. i thought i was gonna loathe this song, the verses are surprisingly addictive and make's up for the "meh" chorus a lot (which i'm actually starting to like DAMNIT) Not necceseraly one of my favorite tracks, but it was a nice surprise. All For You The only song i don't like, i see where she was trying to go with the whole Acoustic feel. But it just sounds like a horrible LQ recording of some Bathroom concert LOL. Would it have been recorded in a studio it would have been great, cause i actually really like the track.

The cutesy voice in Love Technique is amazingly unannoying and seriously adds to what may be her first out and out cute song in a while that the usual haters of her too cute songs (me) like.

Are the album versions of all the songs on 4 TIMES same as the ones on the single? Except for V.I.P. of course.
Also, are Love me Back and Ai wo Tomenaide completely same or not? Last edited by Chiharo; 21st January 2012 at 09:24 PM. |

Personal review (after four listens):
Introduction: Amazing start, the instrumentation is epic and legendary. 10 So Nice: Love the flow of the entire song, and her sexy voice. 9,5 Boom Boom Boys: Powerful and addicting. I'm in love with the "oh-oh-oh!" haha 9 V.I.P: Pure love 9 Slow: Very nice track, I totally love it, but I was expecting a bit more for the verses 8 Brave: I'm surprised, I was thinking this song to be boring, but it's lovely and awesome! 9 Everyday: Def. not my type of song... it's cute though 5 IN THE AIR: This song have something special... it's very unique for me since the release of 4 times 9,5 You're not alone: I never really liked it... 4 Interlude: Pure love!!! but not as good as the amazing intro 8 ESCALATE: Kind of strident, very noisy (in the line of pop diva) but it's so catchy and I really like it 7,5 Love Me Back: I'm in love with this song for the first time I listened to it 10 No Man's Land: One of my favourites, very well produced, and her voice is soooo great in this 10 Ai Wo Tomenaide: It's pretty, but the balads of the album are faaar better! 6 KO-SO KO-SO: What to say about this... is sexy as hell, and I love the tune 9 Lay Down: Another masterpiece. Nothing more to say. 10 Love Technique: I can't believe this song is THAT good. It's like a drug!!! techno-pop "a la" Perfume. Everything is good: verses, chorus, music... On my top 5! 10 Poppin' love cocktail: Well... it's funny, but kinda generic pop-rock. I'm tired of this song probably haha 5 All for you: I really love the song, but as someone said I think a studio version would be better. Anyway, it's interesting to hear kuu singing acoustic a song to close the album. 7,5 ----- General valoration: 9 This is IMO her best album in her entire career. I don't think japanesse audience will react as some of us, 'cause their taste in music is pretty different, but damn, this is what I was waiting since Kingdom, my favourite album until today. Japonesque have on her 19 tracks the best of kuu's way to see music. It's an epic win and will became legendary for real fans, I'm sure. THAT'S the way kuu congrats and THANKS for this!!

Ok, I'm so giddy and happy right now,
because Kuu has made a KILLER album which is definitely BC level or even above it for me. Without the ballads it would have been a perfect compilation of hot/dance/intense/powerful songs. I found a couple of the slow songs boring. Then again I felt a lot of the other songs were too short. But anyway I'm in loveee Her voice is pretty heavily autotuned/clad with effects but strangely it is't bothersome and it kinda suits her voice. Oh yeah and I think I'll be replacing V.I.P. with the single version...Introduction/Interlude I love the arrangements SO MUCH. They suit the theme of urban JAPONESQUE perfectly. Also her simple "follow me" in the intro is hypnotic in a good way. ![]() So Nice This one is super hypnotic also, so I like it. The best part is actually the rap part, not only because of the perfect rap but also her "haaa"s in the background create a really cool athmosphere. Boom Boom Boys The verses could be more interesting but the parts after "come on girls lets make some noise...boom boom boys" just hit some nerve in my brain perfectly lol, the melody there is like, soaring and makes adrenaline pump. Slow feat. Omarion It's a pretty typical RnB track but at least from the great end of the spectrum. Really touching and nice, and Omarion's voice sounds actually pretty nice with her. Not sure about his rap though but whatever. Brave/Everyday I really want to like songs like these but I just can't. Sure the message is great but aaaargh I'm so booored. I could swear I have heard these two from her under a different title lol.. ESCALATE I'm not blown away by the chorus yet. But there are so many nice little details and addictive parts that I can definitely say I like it. No Man's Land Oh wow I really didn't expect rap verses. Without them it might have been a bit boring, but like this it's fantastic! Agree with everyone about good quality production. Rockkk ♥ Lay Down Ehh I love the verses again. xD She sounds hot there and the bouncy melody is cool. Kinda like ESCALATE, it doesn't make me addicted yet, but I like it. Love Technique This is so cute ugh. But it's not annoyingly or embarrassingly cute. I love the arrangement. All for you it's pretty, but it'll have to grow on me once the party with the other tracks is over and it's time for loveliness like this haha. Since I adore 5/7 of the previously released tracks and hate none I can say this album is pretty freaking awesome. The stable quality and effort throughout the tracklist is remarkable. Epic arrangements, clever melodies and her fabulous voice and character really shine here. /thou shall not ramble

So my opinion on JAPONESQUE: very good album. The best for me since Kingdom.
The intro: FLAWLESS. This intro is awesome and fits perfectly with the mood that wants to give the title album name So nice: a candy II. Eastern sounds are very friendly, the song too, nice entry! Boom Boom Boys: song pop / rock that I like , I like her performance on this track, a bit crazy! The choruses are super addictive! VIP: I found it very nice, just the T-PAIN's solo: annoying Slow: mid tempo track with false airs r'n'b, it's still enjoyable. Omarion does not spoil the song unlike the guy on VIP Brave: Classical in Kuu's discography but nice! Everyday: kawaii song. IN THE AIR: very fresh and cool. You Are Not Alone: an acoustic song, it changes! Interlude: a bit in the same spirit as the intro, just that it's a bit big mash-up but it's nice! Escalate: I love it. I already loved the preview, but the entire track is excellent. With that I want to dance! Although it is a bit messy at times, I find it totally addictive and effective! Love Me Back: single track that I like a lot! No Mans Land: nice surprise, beautiful melody, beautiful vocals The ballad whose name I forget because it is tagged in kanji: classic, it has the same arrangements as Brave xD Ko-so-ko-so: nice song, nice even if it is not one of my favorite single track Lay down: I love it! I really like the verses, I think the song is perfect! Love Technique: in the genre pop / kawaii I find it enjoyable! Poppin love cocktail: not too much my cup of tea but it is cool All for you: beautiful little song that closes the album, I find it very personal in its composition! A very nice album made in Kumi. Very good, just listen to it!! Good job Kuu-chan!

I actually think this could be my fave Koda Kumi album ever! I have loved most of her albums, but there was always a couple of tracks that I just couldn't stand. On this album there isn't a single song that I dislike.
The only small problem I have is the last track. The echo on her voice sounds like the echo you get in a toilet/bathroom...so now I have visions of Koda sitting on a toilet singing "All For You", which wouldn't surprise me actually lol =P
