i really like mariah, and though her diva personality comes off as snotty, you can't deny she makes catchy music. e=mc2 was a really fun album, in the past you would never hear mariah using a v-coder to edit her voice like she did in migrate. this just shows she up for experimentation, she's come a long way up from glitter.

I watched the Hero performance from X Factor and was shocked.
I remember being a little kid and watching her sing the first ever live of the song and amazed -- even at such a young age. Her voice was so clean and polished back then. I have heard recent performances, roughly a year old, that prove she still has it. I just think she doesn't take care of her vocals the way someone like Celine Dion does. Mariah oozes an arrogance that may lead her to believe that she doesn't need to be on point at all times. She is a Jersey girl... Fact of the matter is most of her songs require the usage of her full prowess and after X many years of delivering it she's not going to be able to sing like she used to without proper care. Eventually, due to strain, she may develope those nodes in her throat that will basically render her range and ability to sink to a much lower level.

She sounds fine, but of course she used to sound better. I don't know too many ladies who sound better later in life than they did when they were younger. Look at any recent Aretha Franklin performance.
This is a lot better than those X-Factor contestants could ever do: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLC73DB7jE8 |

The performance of I Stay In Love on the AMA's was very impressive, although I'm still kind of unsure if she actually sang the parts past the bridge live.

Mariah did a great job with her performance at the AMA. Her vocals were perfect IMO. That was my first time listening to that song too. I didn't like Mariah for a while, so yeah.
I love the song though, I hope to buy her new album.

that AMA performance was great, and I really like E=MC^2. shame about the unfortunate single choices tho, that album had much better songs for single that the ones used
![]() I don't really care whether she can hit the highest notes or whatever. I feel she's the best at singing really like expressively, with lots of emotion. |
