Aah, I see what they're talking about now. (How they both have tinnitus.)

i agree that the picture choice isnt the greatest...if it showed the entire pic, with her sparkly/reflecting dress, it would look better...haha.

but anyway...it's really incredible that it makes all these headlines...

It feels so sad in that video where the guy reads Ayu's comment about going to doctor and finding out her ear was deaf while TW... plays in the background. At he

That nwews is extremely unprofessional. I'm quite surprised since it comes from BBC. tinnitus is not a disease, it's a symptom. That's almost like saying ayu is deaf because her ear is deaf.
On the other hand, it's interesting to seem this problem has trigged international media's interest in reporting it.

I think it's impressive, too--while it's sad it has to deal with negative news, it always fascinates me when I see Ayu mentioned in media outlets prominent in the West (CNN, Times, BBC).

It's not the news' fault if the reporter writing the article messes it up--they're unprofessional, then. Or their fact-checkers are. Though also in their defence, they make the tinnitus thing seem like a rumor/hearsay and not something 100% factual.

I almost can't believe she made it even into European news articles with this!... no Dutch ones but even Estonian and the UKs. I hope some miracle might happen and she'll heal. A friend of mine says the deafness causes the bad singing, but that her voice is still the same old. I am positive Ayu can overcome this. She is an incredibly strong woman.

when I heard on the news a man fell down a 47store building or so and lived to tell about it..... then I believe Ayu can overcome this deafness one way or another!

a professional journalist will not input their thoughts in science/economic/etc if they aren't sure what it means. Their job is to report facts but also to majke sure what they're reporting makes sense and is accptable for anyone to read. They don't need and don't have to know about everything obviously. But they usually will have an opinion from someone who understands of the matter before writing crazy assumptions about it. What if tinnitus had the same meaning as eating poo? would this journalist be just describing everything they "hear" about? It's very unprofessional, specially coming from BBC which is werll known worldwide. tinnitus is not a disease, it's a symptom, so you can't assume or even speculate her disease is "tinnitus" and that it was caused by sound exposure and led to her deafness. To the regular reader, it goes unnoticed but for someone who works with health, that article is annoying to read. If it were from a second hand company I'd let it go..but it's BBC.

I dunno if they're putting their personal opinion into the article.. I just see them making the mistake of adding something that isn't completely confirmed.

Maybe if she was completely deaf, but I think she'll learn rather soon to control her voice even with one working ear.. And there are awesome half-deaf singers out there.

I wonder where they got that tinnitus thingy from... >___>
