Really? I've never heard that before. I would of thought her second album only because that was definitely more mainstream and pop-influenced. What makes you think her first one had Ayu influences, I want to check it out now

I agree that she's more like Kylie now, but I think the comparisons to Ayu are apt for her pre-Dancing Diva material--especially around See my 72 Changes and Castle. Part of the reason I bought the former album was that the cover reminded me of I am..., and then there's stuff like this.

Koda Kumi sometimes! It is fair to say Ayu and Koda influence each other now though~ I think it's largely due to the fact that they're both Avex. Tanya Chua (i think) did a music video similar to Ayu's Daybreak before and Fiona Sit an MV similar to Ayu's Ourselves.

I'm pretty sure both Daybreak and ourselves have been heavily influenced by Madonna videos, the latter also by Christina Aquilera's "Fighter"
