Most (All?) of Ayu's digital singles so far have actually gotten released on something else on CD so I wouldn't worry.

Tell me why. I would like to know. I hear lots of people saying this and I am not dissing any of them but I would love the hear the reason why they prefer the physical singles.

^Because the only point in buying something you can download for free on the internet is to have an actual item with a cool cover in your hands. I don't mind Ayu releasing digital singles, but I'd never pay for a MP3 file.

I don't really know if I can explain my view in a good way. People prefer physical cd because they can hold in their hand ok but don't you think that digital song is more reasonable? On the CD's price, the artists only win 10% of the price while the label take at least 70%. As the digital price is lower, the label doesn't steal the artist as much as with a physical cd.

^ artist dont really make money off of album sales.
take for example avex. avex contracted ayumi to make music. She is paid wither you buy that single or not. But it is up to the single sales on wither avex wants to renew that contract with ayumi. If she doesnt sell any singles (just for this example) then avex will not want to renew the contract and she doesnt make any more music. labels are in the business to make money. pure and simple. and the labels make money buy selling CD's and what not. EDIT: oh and the label still gets the same amount of money, it's just lowered because the price is lowered. I guess a better way of saying it is that they still get the same percentage of money. |

^Nopes, it's not distributed on the same way because the expenses are different. The label gets most of the profit from physical releases not because they are evil or whatever, but because they have to pay for more aspects of the production: The photoshoot, the team of graphic designers, the printing, the outfits, the plastic box, the cd media, the shipping to the stores, logistic, etc, etc, etc... All of those are payed by the label that recovers from those spents with the sales. When you have a digital release, most of those, mainly the most expensive parts (printing, transportation, logistic, buying the cds and boxes, etc.) are eliminated... What makes it overall cheaper to sell in order to have a positive income AND reduces the amount of people you need to share the final income with.

^ they still get the same set percentage of money. It's all in how the contract is handled and each contract is different.
It's just lowered because its a digital release. When you are dealing with labels they take most of the money when it comes to any kind of release. |

You know what I want more than a Song 4 u physical release? For avex to re-release Ayu's albums like the did with Namie. Then I could afford two for the price of one, they'd be brand new AND Japanese press. It's a win win win.

Not sure why, but I'm reminded of Naturally. Feels very "oldschool Ayu" to me

^ they might do that for her 15th? Next year...
It would be cool if she went back and chose some that didnt have PV's make new PV's and rerecorded them! |
