The interview was really touching.
For the first time I realized how much Ayu has gone through. It's just amazing. Next time someone calls Ayu-sama the "Britney Spears of Japan" I'll hit him/her. lol

Serisouly... it hits you like a ton of bricks. I suppose some people may have different reactions, but i found it really really deep. I knew about her ear problem, bu didn't know how bad it was. however, i did NOT know about how she injured her leg, and against all doctors orders went ahead with the concert. I'm amazed that she didn't cancel, because let's face it... they're serious reason for her to do so, yet she continued on for her fans which is truly admirable.
One part that really touched me was when the narrator of the programme literally pleaded with the audience...when he said something along the lines of... "So in future, please NEVER laugh at Ayu again" |

I'm sure Britney's gone thru tough times too, so it's not fair for you to say that. Ayu's not the only artist to have had a tough life.

after watching the report, i love ayu more because she is so strong that makes me admire her a lot more than before. Even though she has hearing problems and she broke her leg, she still keep herself up. Her spirit is so great and i think she is my role model now. now i do not only like her appearance and music, but also her spirit... so this interview had a great impact on me!

this has been the most touching documetry ive ever seen. i no so much mroe about ayu now and how much pain she has been through. almost going deaf cud have been a very serious situation. yet she did not let her fans down and performed extremly well. she has good sportsmanship and never gives up even hurting her leg she runs. ayu is much tougher than she looks mentally and physically. if ayu retired afta A Best we would not have been able to hear all those wonderful new songs she sang. before i never really had an idol, but after watching this i believe Ayu is my idol. i can look up to her and have lots of reason to back it up. now i will continue my life, work hard and never give up no matter how bad the situation gets. this vid is the best and i personally recomend to all the fans or even if you are not too familiar with ayu this can help u no more. Everyone should watch it!!!

well, saw this for like a month ago and have seen it 5 times now.... everytime I see it I feel some kind of both sad but still a happy feeling gushing up from inside that I can´t express in words.... My friends ask me: Why are you being so weird.... You´re all quiet and not yourself..... And at that moment I tell myself.... Why are you like this after seeing this... many people go through this all the time world-wide... but something is hitting me at a special place and I can´t describe where this place is.... So I´m going to watch it from time to time to find out what kind of feeling this is... never felt so sorry? happy? for someone in my whole life... And at the moment I´m downloading the HQ of the interview and the complete translation that is subbed and going to watch the interview again... thanks to lebutler hosting the file and the other two that put so much effort in translating and making a sub for the interview! Thanks again!

I've only watched it through one time, but I've been watching some parts several times. I didn't see it with the subtitles, but I've been studying Japanese for four years now, so I understood the most things they were talking about.
I really love this interview, it made me like Ayu more than before. She's such a strong human beeing. Have no more comments but that it was great! I think every Ayu fans should watch it! |

Finallyyy got a chance to download and watch the interview. (I got double-subtitles and 1/3 of them were missing but >.>). The part where Ayu just sat down and cried during the concert practice (I think it was practice? or was it an actual concert o.o) really hit me. It just made me feel incredibly sad for her

This made me cry, when Ayu sat down and cried.. when she ran to the corner of the stage to cry, and hurting herself so badly she still continued the entire concert! with smiles on her face none the less.
This made me feel and see, Ayu is such a strong person, I like the clips at the end with her in her home town.. going about the place. I respect Ayu so much more now as a person, I don't think I could be so strong over all she's gone through! |

Sorry to bring this all up again but I've rewatched this interview carefully.
And whenever I do watch it.. I really do feel close to tears. It's a very sad life that of Ayu indeed. It's sad to see how she has realised that she is solely a pawn, a product which pumps up money. And yet she accepts that fact even if it does shock her and make her feel sad. Nonetheless she does realise that she must be a product in order to fight against her competitors. It's also rather sad since she probably wanted her best album to be her most special album ever but yet Avex just gave her a deadline and left her dealing with it and facing her highest competitor - Hikki. The explanation of "Dearest", the promotional video, also gets to understand that Ayu can no longer be a real person and has to look and act in a manner to please the media and public even if she does long to get away from all of it. And maybe that is the reason why "I Am..." has powerful themes of freedom and individuality. But that's mere speculation. Dome Tour also showed plainly how Ayu was ready to sacrifice all of her simply to please her fans. Another thing which struck my attention was how Ayu has had to fight for the crown since.. forever. Avex itself has tried schemes to replace her with artists like BoA and Ai Otsuka, apart from other artists, according to some voices that is. And not to mention other competitors from other labels. It musn't be easy. At all. And when she did get it she had to struggle like crazy, release at an insane rate and endure physical pain. I'm sure not many artists would do that. Also it's sad to see how she exerted herself to the point of getting almost permanetly deaf from one ear. It's as if she was getting all of herself still to get to sing and please her fans even if she was not fit physically for such a huge task. Sometimes it does bother me to see how fickle the Japanese tend to be towards such a person who has risked all of her simply to follow what she believes in. Rumours around were circling that since she sided Max, her popularity has declined. After watching this I feel that after all no matter what I really do think Ayu shall be the most favourite artist I'll ever have in my life. In the end I do believe no one does really know the real Ayu. They only see the images she projects of herself. She projects what the people want to see and thus they see her as this image of perfection. As a final note I highly believe, after watching this interview that Ayu doesn't understand herself either - the inability to express her feelings, the lyrics full of confusion and loss, the life full of illusion where those seemingly lovely and beautiful things were just superficial. It's obvious (to me anyhow) that she was at loss to know which path to lead or where to go. Also the fact that she did not know what to do even when she was on top of pop in Japan. Also the fact that she hid all that was personal to her from prying eyes and did not want any interviews at her home... it suggests she doesn't want anyone to know who she really is. The reasons are unknown.. yet one can always speculate.

wow, I have never seen this interview... but I know Ayu is dedicated to her fans... it's touching, and thats why I love her music. She always puts 100% into everything she does. I wouldn't consider her lazy when it comes to dealing with her public.
Question, I thought 'A Best' wasn't her idea? And that she didn't want to do it, but she was forced and thats why she made herself cry on the cover, kinda a 'I'm my own person' yell. Was she made to do this Best album or did she want to?

Thank you ^^ it's nice to see somebody who has the same feelings as me towards Ayu. Yarumi: Ayu did want to release a best album. From this interview I believe though that she just didn't expect Avex to simply make a date for her and leave her dealing with it. She just wanted her best collection to be a special compilation from what I've figured out.
