i think that eeeeeeeeeeeeee or iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii (what ever) can be her power but also can be her weaknesses in some songs i love the eeeee in my name's WOMEN or HAPPY ENDING but somehow.. its her weakness for me when she sings carols... it makes me feel that the song is scary

I like them sometimes, but other times, it makes my ears bleed, what she is doing is incorrect singing, when you sing "ee" notes, you shouldn't spread your mouth backwards, but forwards. It's hard to to, but I don't think Ayu ever got really good voice training.

You are right! That is one of my favorite songs too....but yeah, I have to brace myself for that barrage of "iiiiiiii"s at the end every time I listen.

Maybe we should call it the "Ayu Love Wince".

If you've listened to her old songs, her "eee"s were actually not annoying and quite unique. But now, it seems like she rolls her tongue way too much in an unecessary way. Seeminly, she sings "erheeee" insteady. I miss the way she hits those high notes.

I don't want her to re-do any songs...leave it as it is. o_O I like July 1st the way it currently is. I can excuse any of the 'eeeeeee's on 'A song for XX' though.

But the only ones that really bugs me are the ones on 'No way to say' and 'CAROLS'. (<---The MY STORY CM reminded me of it. o_o)

And oh, I agree with what Clover1215 said. She rolls her tongue way too much nowadays for no reason, especially when she's singing English.

Sorry, I am not well-versed in musical terminology...what do you mean by "rolls her tongue"? What kind of effect does it create? Could you give me examples? I am quite curious.

I think it's kinda like sliding the tongue into the upper part behind your mouth (palate) and trying to sing the english part of forgiveness...at least it's how I think it sounds but I might be wrong.

you can try it out urself....make a vowel sound, hold it, roll your tongue like you do with "r"s....there IS a difference.

in ayu's case..it sounds more..........constipated........

She was had a REALLY sharp voice in her younger years but now they're not as bad. ^__^ In the past, I could not take listening to her songs for a LONG LONG time or else I get a headache from the "EEEEeee"s but now her recent songs are fine. =) I think she's improving and it is perfectly fine. ^_^

yep, today after hearing My Story real loud, I almost went deaf at the "iiii" ... ugh...I hope she'll avoid singing these in the future, as some people have complained that she sounds screechy.

its her trademark i think.. i do enjoy all her 'iii' though some maybe annoying i enjoy it... i listen to them when i am down and then do all those facial expressions like trying so hard to force that high-sharp-pitched 'iiii'... hahaha if not i dont really listen to those high pitched ones... actually the high pitched 'iii' sounds quite bad on happy songs, AGREE?? it sounds far better in sad song ... and high-sharp-pitched with those vibratos sounds kinda funny actually..... but it is quite unique....
but in MY STORY i think all the 'iii's were quite all right for me.... though HAPPY ENDING sounds a bit annoyin but overall it is nice.... ^^ but i love the my name's WOMEN ones they sound so good
