I like it when she uses English, and it doesnt bother me if it's not correct. It fascinates me, acctually. It's not being sung especially for an English audience, I think it's for a more worldly universal feel. And Ayu's lyrics I think are quite universal

It's disappointing - and often embarrassing to be honest. On the plus side it's usually impossible for a casual listener to tell what's being said...

The English parts should be the way to get others into the music by being really clever or poetic - or should at least be representative of the quality of the Japanese lines.
They are never like that, and often end up confirming some people's views - that jpop/foreign-language music is mostly nonsensical rubbish

I don't mind it at all...in fact, sometimes it's a nice change to be able to understand something right off hand. Granted, songs like Real me and forgiveness you usually have to look up, but in songs like Heartplace, she's fairly easy to understand. I like her Engrish for the most part, but for some artists like BoA...eh...it just seems like a polar opposite.

But I don't think I want Ayu to sing a whole song in Engrish...that might be a bit too much.

Her pronunciation is not good enough. I think she should stay away from English unless she really practices the lines first.

I would like it better if she got some more experience in english-speaking countries, because it's hard to understand most of the time (w/o looking at the lyrics). It kind of disrupts the flow of the song (for those of us who understand the japanese...)

Well not talking about ayu but JPOP by itself, I was thinking one of these days about some songs from my native language and whenever they mix Portuguese lyrics with english words, it gets pathetical and hilarious. It's usually used to compose parody songs....And songs that actually try to be serious by doing such things ends up turning kinda pthetical in my opinion. I guess the reason is because I can understand both languages. In japanes music the ENGLISH/ENGRISH is already so much incorporated that it ended up turning into something kinda attractive at times. I guess the main reason is I can't really understand japanese and the english parts help me understand a little of what the song has been talking about. As I'm pretty used to listening to many japanese artists mixing languages, when ayu does it, it doesn't really bother me that much, though I still prefer when she sings the whole lyrics in japanese or just say small words or little phrases in english here and there.

Unlike a lot of other j-pop artists, Ayu doesn't use that much english lyrics in her lyrics. So, i don't mind. As long as she does not do it too often, i'm fine with it.

I think RAINBOW, Over was good. Real me and Forgiveness needs a bit of help. xP; she could improve it. But i think it's okay to have it.

m-flo does English on songs well. He's a lyrical genius, always rhyming English and Japanese together .. but he's fluent in both languages, so it doesn't count

However .. when some singers that don't know English that well .. it kind of bothers me and throws me off because it doesn't mix well and sounds weird and all accented. I just prefer listening to songs that are in full Japanese .. if the singers English is recognizeable, I don't have a problem listening to it.

(I'm not too sure how the French went across, I never learned French)
