The last official ayupans all smile so the smile is not a criteria to tell whether it's an official product or not anymore.
The letter is pretty cool! And with her devil smile, I bet there's some trick (lethal poison) hidden inside that rose ![]()

![]() "ayupan" started in mid-2002 as little dolls that ayu sold in concerts. Ayu called them "ayupan", short for "ayu-panda", because she thought they looked like pandas with their huge eyes. The original line had ayupan of the Dearest cover, UNITE! at Dome Tour 2001, and the Daybreak cover, among several others. Since then, ayupan have been sold at just about all of ayu's concerts (including limited ones at a+nation and the Limited TeamAyu Live Tour), in varying designs paying homage to ayu's album & single covers and concert costumes. Not long after the ayupan were created, a file went around of a CG ayupan screen test. Fans got excited in anticipation of a future animated ayupan series, which eventually took shape in the form of 19 2-minute episodes (I believe it was a bumper before & after commercials during the "ayu ready?" talk show) and a sequence of ayupan teaching the Trauma dance. Ayupan also showed up on the big screen at one of ayu's concerts teaching everyone the independent dance. Ayupan also had a short lived store in the shibuya district. It went out of business after a short time of operation as the merchandise was too expensive. Most customers left buying nothing more than a sheet of stickers, although various things such as towels, pencil cases, lunchboxes, stationary, coffee mugs, and even candy & christmas box sets were available. Ayupan have shown up on a few of ayu's cds including ayu-mi-x 4 and Daybreak, and were included in the form of coasters found in Mr. Donut's "AYU Combo". The legacy lives on still today as, as you can see, fans continue to take old ayupan and repaint them into designs for her latest singles ![]() You can see lots of aypan pictures at http://www.eneabba.net/ayu/ayupan ^_^
