Which is why it would be wise to stay away from artiste recommendation threads.

Anyway, buying = good.
I brought around 80 this year too haha, nearly 20 of which are 2nd hand and some other ones I've snagged while they were discounted. Only managed to have gotten rid of about half a dozen though.

I want sure to support the artists...But I really can't buy ALL.
I would..But I don't ahve the money..
So I try to do my best and buy from time to time a CD^^
In a few years maybe I have all XD~
So I'm happy that some J-Rock CDs are released/are going to be released in Germany. It's cheaper as an import and I'm supporting the artist/band.

For the most part, I download music solely for evaluation purposes. If I like an album that I download, I'll buy it off of yesasia.com and then delete it. If I don't like it, then I still delete it (obviously I don't buy it). I haven't bought any singles yet, but I have about 25 J-Pop CDs. I know it isn't much but I've only recently started buying CDs using the internet. I just like to own the albums, with the case and all. Plus, it supports Ayu and other J-Pop artists.

If there's only say, one or two songs I like from an artist or band, then I'll download it, but if there's alot of songs I like from an artist or band, then I'll probably end up buying their CD. That's usually the case, but concerning Japanese music, since I don't have a credit card, I usually end up downloading their songs or albums. I do plan on buying some J-Pop albums, but only if I really really like their albums, since most imported albums will be expensive.

I buy based on the sole fact that I enjoy the physical item. It's much different looking at the actual booklet than it is looking at it online.

I buy CDs, because I like the idea of owning it and being able to listen to it over and over again, years and years later. Usually I have stuff on my computer as backup or just to see if I actually want to buy the CD.

Also, the CD booklets are always nice to look at. ^_^

i definitely believe in buying cds. honestly, i don't think you can truly say that you are a fan of a musician unless you actually express that by purchasing their music, unless of course there are circumstances like lack of money or something preventing you from buying cd's. i used to only download, there was a 2 year period where don't think i really bought any music. but now i almost never download. besides, downloading is not as fulfilling to me as actually owning the cd. i like to have the cd, the case, the inserts...i need all that to really enjoy the music, lol.

as for buying old music, i do it all the time. if you like it, why not buy it. i mean, old music is just as good as new music, if not better sometimes, lol.

I used to buy a lot of CDs when I was in high school...but..I'm trying to be a little more frugal and not buy too much...plus I need to save up money to go abroad. I download A LOT but I end up deleting a lot of it as well. If I really really like an artist, though, I will try to buy their CD some point in time...currently, Ayu's the only artist I buy CDs of now..and I only really buy her albums. If I see some of her used singles being sold for a good amount of $$, I'll buy it. But I won't usually buy Ayu's singles off of Yesasia unless I really like the song.

I suppose it's their freedom to do that, but once I wanted to buy a CD that my friend already had and she was like "There's no point! I have it too, I'll lend it to you."

Also, what's wrong with buying albums that were released quite a while ago? On two occasions I bought an album that was released a year back and two different people asked me, "Why did you buy that? It's so old!" I'm thinking well, better to buy 'old' good music than fresh crap. But I still want to know why people think that way.
I feel the same way!! People think I am 'obsessed' or something, when they themselves are only acting selfish (for the artist) and taking advantage of what they COULD download.

I buy my CDs whenever I have the chance. Sometimes I'm forced to download some CDs because a lot of my favorite bands have CDs that are out of print and they have not re-released them and they go for 100+ dollars on eBay (like Mindless Self Indulgence and Dog Fashion Disco; that's WAAAAY too much money to spend on a CD). I mostly use mp3s to see which albums are good. I don't listen to mainstream music that often (aside from Jpop), so I don't usually run into the whole "only one song is good" problem. And some band's CDs aren't readily available in stores (I'll have to order off a website), so I use mp3s to see if it's worth ordering. I also use mp3s to discover new bands (DC++ has done WONDERS for me). If I'm REALLY addicted to an artist at a certain point, I'll download a lot of their CDs because I don't have the money to buy them all (like I just did with Faith No More and Cannibal Corpse). I haven't had a job for almost a year, so my CD purchases have been really small (I think the only CDs I got were pretty much presents), but now that I have a new job I'll be buying more CDs. If there's an artist I absolutely love I'll buy their new album on the first day (come April, it's gonna be Dog Fashion Disco!).

I'm gonna be honest here , I dl a lot more than I buy. especially western music that's so easily available online. I'm not trying to deny anything , I realize it's wrong & stealing and whatnot. I have limited funds being a uni student and all , and if the choice is either getting a new cd or going out / partying or buying something like new clothes i can't help but to skip on buying the CD.

also using an actual physical CD is just a hassle. I've ripped all my fave albums I own and just listen to the mp3's. mp3-cd with a hundred of your fave songs saves you the trouble of swticihng cd's in your car. and a portable mp3-player doesn't skip when you jog and it fits conviniently to you pocket. and again it can hold all the songs you want

hey fellowmate, you can try HMV, they have more j-pop singles and albums.the prices are around $25 to $30 for a single, albums around $50 for imported japan version. but i buy my ayu cds from Misc exclusive on the 5th level.
back in 3 years when i was still a poor student, i buy a cd every 3 months, saving up from my pocket money of coz. now that i'm working, i can afford to buy the japan version and the singapore version. my average is 1 cd per month. yes, i do download, but if i really like that song a lot, i would buy it. i prefer owning a cd. i always feel so happy whenever i saw my big collection of cds.
